soft delete, yes....only the admin can hard delete...and I almost never do.....

thought you could delete your own thread if you had a star?

Is that policy open for review? It is maddening when someone starts a thread, the issue is resolved or question answered via the effort of the board members, then the thread is deleted by the starter. Especially in a technical forum. Personally, being able to delete your own posts should be more than adequate and is certainly annoying enough, but to be able to erase the input of others seems inappropriate and contrary to what a forum is for- to share knowledge and ideas.

If I post something in the for sale sections and sell it, I delete the thread.

I would rather have the option to change the title of the thread to Sold but you cannot, so I delete it.

His and others. Not much tech in that particular thread, but I've been frustrated on several occasions by this. I consider my posts my contribution to the forum, and it pisses me off when someone else deletes them, and the same for other's posts- I learn a lot from other people, and it pisses me off when that is taken away from me. Usually because the thread starter is embarrassed by something he wrote. Well, his mistakes are the same mistakes other people make, and everyone can learn from them. Grrrr.

I misunderstood you. I did not know some one else deleted your threads.

And I totally understand that, and I'm sure no one has a problem with that practice. I personally just add 'Sold' to the first and last posts, so other people can see what my item sold for and what it was. I'm particularly irritated by Tech threads being deleted by the author.

Not my threads, my posts to his thread, along with everyone else's.

It's much better to leave the for sale threads up, even after they are sold. Just edit the first post and put SOLD in big bold letters.

Those threads can still be helpful when trying to determine a fair price for an item or researching the credibility of a seller/buyer.

"should" be set now that the only forum where Silver/Gold star users can delete threads is in ChitChat...

I take back some of the stuff I said about you Woody. :D

-Spike (Thanks!)

Why?

I post stuff in Tech Section until the thread turns to "chasing water buffalo and Kangaroos with an ARB bumper" in Los Angeles.

I then delete my comments because I realize the Poster of the thread is not serious. It might as well be in chat.

I need to apply for a moderator star or at least a gold star.

Where is that form? Oh, I forgott, use the search feature.

I'm just busting your chops Brian, I'm still upset the mail lady kept my white stickers. LOL!

Sounds like you can still delete/edit your post, just not delete the entire thread.

That is some gay s*** that you can't delete your own thread. Lame...
