Hey legends,

I've just rebuilt my transfer case, which is working great except I have given myself an extra shifting position on the low range lever. All the gears are working fine, but I am able to shift from 4L straight upwards, and then even straight back over to 2H. Also, 2H and 4H appears to be sitting a little too far over to the left. I suspect I have something wrong with the linkages from the case to the lever. Any help would be much appreciated.

There is a bracket which goes over the transfer shift lever mount on the transmission case. It strengthens the lever and also locks out 2L and 2N.

There is nothing wrong with engaging these extra positions, quite a few owners remove the thing to get 2L, e.g. for moving trailers around on a hard surface.

Thanks so much - I don't think it was ever present on mine and I just must not have noticed pre-rebuild.

Cheers

HF series transfer cases do not utilize a shift gate like the BF transfer cases.
