Sorry Ed, I don't much about what guys are using in 40's. Price doesn't sound out of line.

Hi Ed,
I had to get a new rad a few years ago. Found the best deal at the Import parts store acrose from Medford tool in Medford.

I got an aluminum 2 core fj40 radiator a couple years from Medford radiator for around $350. Its held up great.

radiatorbarn.com and no problems for my 80 series. They list the quality and OEM equivalent.. Almost all of them are made overseas. Free shipping and guaranteed but I think technically you have to have a mechanic sign off that it is the radiator and not the motor- or a bad head gasket.. I just put one in my 22re and got the heavy duty one, it fit a tiny bit different due to the thickness but nothing a couple spacers didn't fit. OEM fit on the 80 series exactly.

Are you sure it is the radiator BTW?

While D&T have helped me, the radiator I got from them was pretty disappointing. Im on my 2nd and hope it lasts more than a year. Under different time frame I would have got a koyo. Anyways the company that made mine is rad radiator. Has all the specs and whatever but wouldnt buy again.

fwiw 800-RADIATORS bough out D&T.

ed also check community radiator in gp, behind 7-11

Can't you guys just get them cleaned out and resealed?? The guy at D&T said mine would never need anything but a re-coring. It was alot cheaper and took one day. So D&T is gone now..?? :frown: He seemed like a square dealer.

Thanks guys lots of good ideas. First. No Kief I am not 100% sure my radiator is bad but it seems so. The bottom of the radiator is blocked off making it hard to see. So I think it is worth a trip to the GP radiator shop

THANKS ED

Old radiators are cheaper to repair than a buying a new one, at least the first time, maybe a break even the second time and by the third time you don't really care what it would have cost. 1970's vs. 1989 is a lot older. I definitely don't use tap water any more, especially with my hard well water.

Any recommendations on a radiator shop in Grants Pass? Got a radiator that needs a good cleaning. Last time I needed one was 29 years ago.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the offer Kief but I was able to get the radiator out easily. I decided to to go with the cheaper way and have it repaired. Mike I will let you know how good the shop I use is;but KNOB knows way more about the good shops in GP than me.
