Help me with this idea.....

Since you moved your spare up to the rear, you could fab a metal, lockable storage unit where your old spare used to sit. Something that tucks up underneath, acts as a psuedo drawer and allows you to store things out of site and away from prying eyes, kids etc. Seems like that would be a simpler solution then trying to move the seats up, and tides you over until you get the trailer build going.

That's an awesome idea! So I guess no auxillary fuel tank in my future. Have you ever seen one done on an LC?

I'm interested in this question also, as I'm hoping to do the same. I've been looking at the inexpensive ones from http://truckfridge.com. They appear to be rebranded Waeco units. Besides the price, that's the only brand with a footprint that seems like it has a chance of fitting at 13.75" of width.

My measurements show that the TF41 should fit if their dimensions are correct, but the TF51 will be too tall as there is no longer 13.75" between the seat back and rear glass at that height from the floor...

Not sure how useful the smaller unit would be for your entire fam...but for that hole behind the 3rd row...I'm thinking that's you're only chance...

Just checked these out. These are pretty sweet! I wonder how they compare to the ever so famous ARB and Engel's.

I've got 4 kids and struggle for space too. I am very happy with my trailer project. No more cramming crud in every nook and cranny, plus much of the weight of the gear isn't on the LC suspension.

I have not seen it done, but it seems like it would be pretty easy to do. The spare takes up quite a bit of space, so you've got a nice starting point. I'd think the biggest issue would be getting things in and out, but shouldn't be that hard to fab something up and see how it works. Plenty of mount points too, if you use the frame and/or the spare tire cross bar.

Have you considered a hitch mounted cargo carrier for extra storage?

Dometic/waeco cf-50 behind the 3rd row seat. Extremely tight. Might be able to fit with some work. Next fridge size down would fit better but the lid opens the wrong way on those. But maybe if you mount the cf-40/TF-41 at a slight angle, the lid could open without interference from the seat back.
