Hey all! I found an FJ40 that I am interested in and just finished talking with the guy over email. I am looking for advice on what to ask and look for if I decide to go see it. I read the FAQ but was hoping for some additional guidence.

Here are the details:
1976 w/Hard Top and Bikini
Chevy V8 350
Holly Carb 660
2 sets of tires/wheels (on and off road)
Air Conditioning
New Gas Tank
Power Steering
"No rust" and no fiberglass
Front disc brakes
Owned for 8 years and selling for another project

When I asked if it had any mechanical issues he said, "No mechanical issues as of this second..but I wouldn't recommend buying something like this unless you like working on them from time to time...more like a hobby. "

Given that it appears to be a buyers market, what do you think I should offer for it? Anything look strange in the pictures?

Looks like it may have had an extra tank underneath it. The cost really depends on you. It's not stock so you are going to have to worry about who did the v8 conversion and if it was done correctly, safely? Do all of the gauges work? Is there any vibration in the driveline? The rig does look good and I agree with 3J, I'd offer near 5 but he's going to want alot more.

No mechanical issues as of this second..

There will be issues. Overheating seems to be a big one among most swaps.

Nothing that can't be overcome with $$ and ingenuity;)

Looks like a sweet rig. If it's put together well, most I've seen are in the 10k range.

Being the market it is, and depending on how motivated he is to sell, I'd have to say 6k+

I had an FJ many years ago.

Selling my FJ62 for now, but will one day have another:beer:

Good luck and let us know how it turns out?
