Today in van it was super sunny, great day to do some maintenance on the cruiser. Check all the usual fluids filter and so on, when I get to my m/t I check the level and I am a low. I put in about .5 litre in the tranny and close it up. I think to myself I sure hope its not the usual tran to t-case fliud travel. No way I think as less than a year ago I get the t-case re gasketed and sealed(blew main gasket as breather plugged). I open the filler plug on the t-case and 2 litres of oil flows out. I think how does the t-case get so over filled when I have only lost .5 litre from the m/t. I then double/triple check my levels, both are fine. I had toyota do the t-case and here are all the part numbers used.

36144-60020 gasket
36142-60030 gasket
36152-60030 gasket
36143-60020 gasket
90311-48010 seal,oil
90179-22005 nut
90301-34004 ring,o x2
36225-60050 shaft,idler gear
90364-38012 bearing x2
36222-60020 washer x2

What I am wondering is how would you get an extra 1.5 litres of oil in the t-case.Is it possible to over fill it that much? Also in that list is the only gasket that is missing for a total rebuild is the gasket between the m/t and the t-case.

One last thing on my bill from toyota they put replaced transfer case gaskets. Does the gasket/seals put between the t-case and m/t part of the t-case parts or is it part of the m/t parts.

Well, if somebody else checked the tranny fluid 3 times, putting in .5 liter each time, but when they opened the t-case found it to be overflowing and so replaced the t-case fill bolt right away without draining it, that might explain it.

Wayne or somebody who knows the part #s well should be able to assess the dealer record you have.

Yeah maybe but since the rebuild I have been the only hands to touch it. Would have done the t-case as well but was going on vacation the next night and needed it done asap.

Looks like they replaced both the gasket between the tranny and transfer and the oil seal. I don't know why oil kept leaking into the transfer, unless the seal was put on wrong ???
