Hello all, I am wondering if I could get your assistance in identifying this oil leak. I initially thought it looked like it was a leaking valve cover gasket, but after I started getting some components out of the way I wasn't so sure. It is either leaking from the corner of the valve cover or from the housing directly in front of it. To be honest, I'm not sure what that cover is called or if it even uses a gasket, hence the reason why I am looking for your help. I'd like to not do the whole thing twice, so I figured I would get a second opinion before I started ripping things apart. Thanks in advance!

Valve cover bolts come loose over time. If you toss a socket on there and tighten each one gentle tight (no ugga) and feel any turning, it is likely the issue.

Just came inside from finding this very issue. They were almost loose enough to turn by hand. I also took the plastic timing gear cover off and found a little crud inside, but no real evidence of a leak from the cam seal. being as the truck is just under 150k, I think I may just snug them down and do my valve cover gasket kit when she reaches 200k. Thanks for the tip!

valve cover bolts are loose. Since its already seeping, id just do the gasket job. Make sure when you do it, replace the coil pack tube seals at the same time. Job is approx 1hour per side. very easy to complete with little to no mechanical experience. Just be SURE to look up proper torque spec and procedure, as stated above, as to not snap a bolt off.
