was told by the PO that it’s was a prototype built by Slee. After speaking with Christo it is not. However, he did say they sold their spindle kits alone, about 10 years ago. Christo stopped doing that for the very reason of people passing off diy bars for Slee bars.

it’s obvious the PO didn’t bother to maintain the swing. I’ll order a spindle kit from Slee so no issues.

All that said; any idea who built this? The fabrication is very good in my lay opinion. There are three flaws I plan to remedy while I have it off.

Bar was likely made in the early 2000’s

Some on other mediums have indicated this is likely a home built bumper based on the welding.

additionally after pulling all the hardware. It’s a missmash of bolts.
- 6 grade-8 1/2-20
- 4 grade-11 9/16-18.

3 different variations of nuts where used. All bolts/nuts required 19mm 18mm and 17mm tools in various combinations.

I think it’s more evidence this is homebrew.

I agree but I’ll put some of the blame on the PO. I don’t know how many of these bumper were made for LC/LX but the design is from a 4Runner. I found the original thread that introduced the bumper. The PO specified rustoleum for paint and I believe the bumper was in-fact welded to the body.

in any case this truck will be replaced by another 77, 105, or 101. At this point I’m not crying over it.

Just got off the phone with Amory at @sleeoffroad

Really great guy to speak with. Customer service was top notch. I had his ear for the better part of an hour. He was working late to catch up on work and I greatly appreciated his time.

but to the point, I’ve got a spindle service kit in bound which should fit appropriately. If it doesn’t, anyone with a Slee bar is welcome to it on me.

Many thanks to everyone who helped.

I'll eat my words. That fab quality is pretty low though. Hopefully Irbis Off-road has upped their game a bit
He's also responsible for the body work for Slee's Vlakvark. I've never seen it up close but it looked pretty good from the pictures.
