I think i got my power steering hydraulic problems worked out but now I have a new one...

The Clutch. The new H55F has the clutch fork/slave on the driver's (left) side of the bell housing. The old one if on teh passenger side so obviously there is a problem. I think i can get a new slave but the problem is in the hose. The cruiser has the booster style clutch master (different and mounted higher tha on the FJs i believe). There are NO custom hydraulic shops in the area......NONE, so that is out. I need to try and find a OEM line that I get to work.

Any ideas?? BJ60 (slave on the right or left?) HJ61? Anyone have a clue? I can looking it HZJ70 series lines but I would imagine they are too short....i need a solution and quick or I'm thumbing to south carolina in two weeks...
 
Make your own hard line with a double flare tool? Would a pre-made brake line work? Just bend to shape.

daisy chain sections of OEM brake soft lines until you can get something more permanent figured out. do a search for "stainless line" or "brake line" and you'll get a ton of possibilities. there's a place that makes stainless line to order...I didn't find it searching ih8mud, and PBB's search engine's down right now...that's what I'd do. supposedly -4 AN is better than -3...larger diameter because clutch operation moves more fluid than brakes. if you use hard line, you'll want to put a coil in it, like they do with brake line.

If you use these Aeroquip male and femalel metric AN to brake adapters, you can use anybody's AN to AN hose in your choice of length and diameter, or make your own from parts you get from Jeg's or Summit (who may very well carry these, too). Verify this with someone who deals with AN hose for a living...

I know you said you've looked everywhere but... I used to run and fix snow groomers in the winter. These things are huge hydraulic machines that run on hydro drives etc. anyway each had at least 100ft of hydraulic lines, all custom and all metric. If you think finding parts for your cruiser is hard, try a 1980 Kasshborer Flexmobil or a 1966 tucker 2700 :doh:

Try 2 places if you haven't already, ad saniel autoparts used to make us hoses all the time. Or, try calling every commercial truck supplier or shop in the area. We have a local truck place called arnold's that could make custom hoses too.

I just ordered up a new slave cyl, it should be here by the week's end, they I will know what I am dealing with. Maybe a BJ clutch line will work or i will go with aeroquip adaptors and -3 AN braided hose.

Sherpa - don't i need metric to SAE, as opposed to SAE to metric? I would need to change the fittings to work with the AN hose and standard fittings, no? what am i missing....im not too familiar with all this stuff, can you tell?

find a good Aeroquip resource to verify this, but I'm pretty sure the "SAE 37 degree" *is* AN...you want to go from 10x1 metric brake to AN on one end and AN to 10x1 metric on the other, and I imagine you'd be wanting male brake on either end, but don't remember for sure. the point it, you're right, you don't want pipe-AN adapters (which most AN adapters are), you want metric brake-AN adapters...which it seems Aeroquip is referring to as "SAE 37 degree". I found the part numbers on a web site where somebody'd done what you're thinking about, so Googled up the Aeroquip reference I quoted. I don't remember where I saw the recommendation for -4 over -3 for clutch line, so I could be wrong there, but I don't see how a greater diameter rigid line will make the pedal "squishy"...the same quantity of fluid is being moved, the fluid is incompressible and the hose walls are rigid.
