I apologize if this is in the wrong place, but I live in the midwest and have had many cool trucks and SUV's. I've always wanted to do a lift on my vehicles, but I have never found a place in the midwest that would know what to do. I would like to drive to Arizona and visit Wescott Designs, or to LA and go to 88 Rotors, but man that would be a haul. I get bored and trade vehicles because I can't make them "my own". So before I trade my GX in on a LC 250, does anyone know of a suspension place in the Wisconsin/MN area? I would really like to keep my GX, because of everything that makes it special. Especially the V8. Thanks to all. ;)

Max-Bilt in Eau Claire works on 4x4's. There is enough info on the internet regarding GX lifts that I am pretty sure my wife could figure it out.

I am not any help. I am tempted to trade my 2016 in on the new land cruiser 🤣

LOL! I was over on another GX forum, and I was talked out of doing a lift. (I'm very thankful for everyone's support)
So now, I'm back to eyeballing these new LC 250's! It's a sign. lol
Thank you to everyone for helping me out. Sometimes I just start overthinking everything. Take care.

But getting an LC, LX or new GX550, will just put you back to where you are now, with a stock vehicle.
One thing you can do is find a shop that is only a Toyota/Lexus off road shop AND very good at what they do, wherever it is. Drive it one way, fly home and wait about 3 - 6 months for them to totally trick it out to your spec's and then just fly back and enjoy the drive home!

True! Thank you.

I would drive to Australia to have a lift installed before I traded my V8 for a 4 cylinder hybrid.
I'm not going to argue that. Believe me, I feel the same way. It's one of the reasons I bought my GX 460. I was planning on keeping it till the wheels fell off.
But I'm a sucker for the marketing when it comes to vehicles, It's one of my down falls.
I'm a very content person otherwise. Take it easy.

Why that Bastage! :D

I ended up with a GX because of the new LC250. Like I said over there I have been #2 on the list for one since early August of last year. Then in November started thinking twice about getting a new release vehicle especially with some of the new releases lately from Toyota. And a lot of unknowns about them as well.

So I went to the dealer to test drive a T4R in Nov. before they made the next gen changes. Wasn't impressed, much like my 13 Taco it had a problem getting out of its own way. While it had some more "modern" features than the Taco still didn't feel it was worth the price. It was a used 2023 and they wanted as much for it as a new one or pretty darn close.

Salesman had to twist my arm to get me to test drive a 19 GX460 Lux they had on the lot with 40K miles on it. I mean almost physically twist it and I did so more to get him to leave me alone. I didn't want to upset him with me being #2 on the list for a new LC which is a really long list now. In minutes it was game over and knew it was coming home with me. Still fought it for a week however and did a lot of research during that week. Finally caved in and I consider it the best move with a vehicle I've made in a long time.

I'll give it a couple of years and watch what happens with the various LC trims and now of course the GX550.

My first 4x4 was a 77 FJ55 Iron Pig Cruiser back in 79

Ironically the dealer had one on the showroom floor when I went to test drive the T4R. Wrong color and not for sale.

I figured my first 4x4 was a Land Cruiser so what was likely my last vehicle should be as well. After having the GX for 6 months not so sure anymore. Although it could be argued that the GX is a Land Cruiser.

No matter what you call it I get a smile on my face every time I drive it. Plans change.

So, I'm curious.......why / how did they talk you out of doing a lift on a GX460?

Well basically they kind of knew that I was doing it just for looks. There really isn't any place to off road in Wisconsin. So really the GX 460 is perfect for me right out of the box. I know this, but wanted a different look, and thought lifting it would take care of the "itch". I owned a 2020 LC 200 HE before this and loved it. I guess I'm missing it and just want to create something similar. They just stated things that I was already thinking, it kind of confirmed things for me. Maybe not necessarily talked me out of it. ;). I know it's confusing, I don't mean to be.

Plenty of places to offroad in WI. Like I said call Max-bilt in eau claire. They have a group that goes out fairly often. There is Apple Valley Farms in the Bloomer area as well.

If you have an itch to do something to your GX, you can always turn it into a Prado. I bet it'll be the only one in the great cheese state.

If you want to lift it, lift it… even if it is just for looks. Who cares what some bozos on a forum think. Spacer lifts are pretty cheap and tons of guys run them. They’re easy to install so any off road shop should be able to it. Throw on some AT tires and some 17s and you’ll have a pretty nice look that will separate you from most of the other 150s out there.
