Hello fellow LC members,

New owner to the world of Toyota Land Cruiser. Just got a non-USA spec 2013 GX 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 model, i believe was built for the Middle East and/or Africa market as I recently relocated to West Africa and purchased locally for contract work. I've included the VIN at the bottom for reference.

A missing feature that is vital to me due to safety concerns is inability for the doors to auto-lock when shifting gear into D or driving above a certain speed threshold. Either feature/module is missing or I don't seem to know how to switch ON. I have to press the door central lock just above the window switches manually every time to lock all doors, and one can forget and has happened.

I want to ask if Techstream can be used to enable this function (read online it is only for US spec Toyota), or am I missing a module that perhaps i can add and code in.
I tried checking via a friend's AUTEL scanner under special functions, couldn't find any option for doors.

Any help is appreciated.

Spec wise one would assume it shouldn't be an issue becuase the vehicle has:
keyless entry and functions as expected.
Door central locks works well.
I can see the gear selected on the instrument cluster (I don't have the digital/tft instrument cluster that comes on the VX).
However:
Owner Manual is missing from the vehicle, and can't find GX owner manual online.
other perhaps relative spec info are:
non-nav screen non-jbl, no screen actually, it has an aftermarket display and reverse camera (weirdly it was made to work into the factory reverse camera harness, anyway...).
no sunroof
no parking sensors
electronic driver and passenger seat controls.
electronic controlled mirrors.

So basically a not so base spec land cruiser.

Thanks.

in my u.s spec 5.7 urfe, 2014, you can change the door lock settings by first having the vehicle engine on and in Park. then on the main infotainment screen press setup button, then vehicle on-screen icon, then vehicle customization on-screen icon, then door lock settings on-screen item, then autolock by shift from P to On.

just noticed you state there is no screen whatsoever. sorry but don't know how to go about the changes without the screen. good luck!
Yea, as mentioned its a GX spec, no screen
Saw online several combinations of hold and press lock button for Toyota, none worked. not sure if there is a confirmed combination for LC.
If techstream is the solution, only techstream gurus might tell.
Or if i'm missing some module...

i checked ai it says the following might work;

To customize door autolock on a 2010 Land Cruiser GX (and possibly other Toyota models without an infotainment screen), you'll need to navigate the digital instrument cluster settings. While specific steps can vary slightly by model year, generally, you'll need to:

  1. Ensure the vehicle is in Park and the ignition is on.

  2. Use the right side selector wheel on the steering wheel to access the vehicle settings. Look for a gear icon or a similar symbol indicating settings.

  3. Push in on the selector wheel to confirm your selection.

  4. Scroll through the settings until you find "Door Lock" or "Door Control."

  5. From there, you should be able to adjust options like:
    • Auto Lock: This allows you to set the doors to automatically lock when you shift out of Park or when the vehicle reaches a certain speed.

    • Walk Away Auto Lock: This feature locks the doors automatically when you walk away from the vehicle with the key fob.

    • Auto Unlock: You can adjust when the doors unlock, for example, when you shift into Park.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately due to the GX spec i don't have the digital instrument cluster with the small screen in between the gauges.
hence no menu option to go through in the cluster. + no steering wheel selectors.
Not able to change any car door lock or any setting through the cluster nor infotainment screen.
Perhaps options are through a combination of door lock buttons or diagnostic scanner special function coding functionality.
Thanks.
