Thanks guys, i may have some bad news on that pump I installed though. I can hear it humming at idle. I guess there is a slim chance that it isn't that but it's coming from the middle row seats so I bet that's it. If its a faulty pump I doubt I ever buy aftermarket again! The OE pump I pulled was branded Arrow while the pump i installed was Airtex. I'll do some diagnosing but at least it got me home. I've put a full tank of fuel through it already. Wonder what the return policy is on a used fuel pump that's just noisy from Advance Autoparts? I'll report back
 
Defective is defective, regardless of performance.

I just knew it had to be related to fuel but that initial spray it gave me at the filter threw me, along with the fact that it started briefly.

When I got it home I cleaned the MAF then decided to see just how much fuel it was pumping by extending the line to a dasani bottle. When I removed the line that time no spray. Turned key and nothing.

I admit I didn't check the EFI relay but if I would have known that there is a convenient harness under the DS middle seat close to the running board attachment with 5 wires, I would have checked it before grabbing the fuel pump. There are two heavier gauge wires one black, one black/red that supply the pump a power and ground. The other three are mostly yellow IIRC and go to the sending unit.

BTW, the new noise I'm hearing is intermittent and usually only happens after a drive.
 
Maybe the charcoal canister?
 
Ground should be okay since I didn't mess with any wires other than unplugging and replugging the harness. Not even sure where the charcoal canister is on this thing but it is related to the fuel so I'll check that out. I could hear it inside easily but not at all outside the vehicle. How long does the fuel pump run after turning the key to on but not starting? I tried to listen without the engine running but never heard it.

Taking a long drive now so maybe I can diagnose when I get stopped
