Im trying to get those JDM signal mirror but i concerned is that our passenger side mirrors are a different shape than theirs driver's side mirrors -- this is what allows you the wider view in the passenger side mirror (hence the "objects in the mirror are closer than they appear" message on the mirror)... In Aussie and Japan, since they're right-hand-drive, the mirrors are reversed (know what I mean?). You'll have the objects-are-closer-than-they-appear mirror on the drivers side and not the passenger side. Will it work? By the way the kit no need to replace the whole mirrors just the outer housing (sort of ... to cover the factory mirrors on with 2 wires inside)

If you can switch out the mirror piece I don't see why it won't work. You wouldn't want to use their mirror pieces as they will be backwards.

Those chrome ones almost look like caps that go over your existing mirror housing.

So do the painted ones. If you look at them installed, you can clearly see the line where they end. Appears to be a 'shell' that may be easier to install than you think - just pop on over the stock housing and hook up wires??

Disagree with TX and Chaos. Those are just shells that go over the factory housing with no mirror switching required. You can see the shell covers up the embossed numbers that are at the inboard lower area of a factory housing, and as noted above you can clearly see the edge of the shells on both the painted and chrome models. Looks simple. I'm not into bling chrome, but I like the added safety of the blinker repeaters. I'll bite - how much??

Doug. You know you like them and you even want them in chrome. Admit it! :D

Anyway, Doug is right about the covers/shells.

Installation is fairly simple as they just go over the existing mirrors and I do not think (and I've been wrong many times before :D ) whether your rig is RHD or LHD should affect how it they get installed.

BTW, the ones in question should cost you a little less than five Andrews or one Benjamin, in Japan. ;).

I've got two pairs of different LED mirror covers. I've paid a lot more for mine. :crybaby:  If you want me to open one of them up and take pics just to give you an idea, I would do it for you, if that would make you sleep better at night. :flipoff2:

LX,

BTW, I thought you already had LED's installed on your mirrors which could even be seen fairly well from vehicles that are in your blind spot, too (some of the shells/covers do not perform that well in that department).

Those are kinda cool. Mot, do they have versions for the Prado 120 available?

My poor man's mod/version is a tenth as bright, but a tenth as expensive :D

Here ya go!

Didn't spend too much time searching, but found these, along with chrome covers:

Just an FYI. ;)

This unit (for 120/Prado) is the OEM reverse-tilting mirror device (when you put your rig in reverse (AT) then the passenger-side mirror tilts down to let you see better when backing up).

Only in Japan, where backing up while parking is common and tight! ;p

Oh yeah, Tyler, yours isn't too shabby, either! ;p ;)

I was thinking the same thing! :D

Hey Doug...I said they were just caps too!!! :D

I've had a pair of the JDM mirrors and had a chance to compare them to the US mirrors. For the most part they are identical, except that both mirror glasses in the JDM mirrors are wide angles, and without the "object in the mirror..." wordings on them. All the other parts are identical, including the mirror housing. The only other difference is the part of the mirror assmbly that mounts to the door. They are reversed.

The body mount for the mirrors are at different angles to accomodate the different viewing angles from the driver's seat. If you compare the driver side mirror and the passenger side mirror, you'll understand what I'm saying. The driver's side mirror is at about 90 degrees with the door while the passenger side mirror is about 70 degrees. Since JDM LC are RHD, the JDMmirror mounts are reversed.
