Hey everyone! I decided last week I was going to venture off and swap my 285/75/16's (that I put only about 1,000 miles on) and step up to the big leagues and put on 315/75/16's. I've read the horror stories about rubbing, need for more lift, lack in power, the need to regear, blah blah blah. I did it anyway. I'm guilty of having the "shoot and take names later" attitude when doing my mods.

BTW, Shotts write up helped a ton! Even though I read it after I did it, all most everything he wrote on was dead on. Here's his write up:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/az-arizona...tion-differences-evaluations-john-shotts.html

Here's what is on my LC thus far, so I want to ask for some feedback from everyone here on what they think I can do to make my rig better. Over the years of owning FJC's, Tacomas and even a Tundra, I've made it a point to collaborate all the knowledge of my peers from these forums to help me decide best what's best for my rigs. With my ideas ,and from pointers I've read and learned from, I think I have made some pretty cool rigs thanks to everyone who chimes in! Thanks in advance!

- Slee heavy setup on all four with piggybacks
- Total Chaos UCA's
- Metal Tech lower links
- Metal Tech upper links
- Sway Away torsion bars
- 16" OEM wheels (PS - yes, that's PlastiDip on the wheels and yes I'm addicted)
- 315/75/16 KM2's x 5

PROBLEM: At full turn, I'm smashing my Slee resivoirs and rubbing fender on other side. Yes, I knew this was going to happen, but does anyone think I can mount them on top of the frame? I've seen other 100's with resivoirs and do they have that problem? What about wheel spacers to reduce/eliminate rub? BTW, Discount Tires told me that they wouldn't work on my truck if I had spacers. Does anyone think they would void my warranty if I had spacers on? What about a body lift? Should I just do it on the front or on all four? If I do it on the rear, do I run the risk of ruining my rear fenders when completely tucked?

Disclaimer: I'm new to owning an LC, so I truly appreciate all the advice. My rig is made possible by the good folks who let me mow their lawns lol and everyone on here!

Sorry if some of these are not rotated correctly....:censor: iPad!

This is the safest position for remote reservoirs.

I do have to ask, what was your goal with the 315's?

Ok bro, that is AWESOME X 1000! What kind of mount is that? Where can I get one?

As far as the 35's, my goal I'm sure is like most everyone else's: more rubber on the rocks, I've got 4.88's sitting in the garage, ARB front and rear lockers and Marlin LC Crawler gears all waiting to be put in.

For being new to an LC, this is quite an epic build :P

And yes, I would suggest running about 1" spacers, as well as a 1" BL. That's what most people with 35"s are running right now and it seems to do the trick

Thanks! I wouldn't say it's "epic" but I appreciate the props! I've learned from reading, watching others and many trail rides that it's important to build my rig as capable and as "epic" as possible. Not just for the props, but so that my family (5 kiddos and a wife) can hop in on any given weekend and go wheel the :censor: out of it. Plus, I'm trying to teach my oldest that doing things the "right" way the first time will save a lot of time, money and heartache. Lord knows there's nothing worse than seeing your rig up on blocks in your driveway waiting to get fixed.

I'm blessed to be able to do this. I haven't always been able to do so but I'm happy I can now. Lord knows there's been plenty of events that I've shown up to with a backpack full of Ramen, a Jetboil and my gas light about to turn on just to wheel for a day or two!

Do you recommend a certain brand and/or manufacturer for each one of these things? Should I do spacers on all four?

I say spacers on all fours, but I know some people (2000UZJ) that just run them in the front. As for brand, I know that Just Differentials sells some high grade spacers in the 1" variety but I also know that Shaggy custom fabs spacers and may have some left from his last batch, or you could ask around for people who have some of his spacers that don't want/need them anymore. I believe Shaggys are 10mm spacers. As for the body lift, Jonesy's Offroad sells a great kit that several guys on here run. So that's who and what I would reccomend, but stay open minded and listen to other guys on here too!

MetalTech makes them in house. Requires two holes/self tapping bolts in the UCA mount.

Nice....let me email LT right now and see what's up. Guess some good ol zip ties won't work, huh?

Great recommendations.....thanks for the input. I'm gonna check em out now.

For the TC UCA's I'd recommend the 1" from JT/Carl. High quality. At 1" I have contact at full compression at the fender rim. Not with the metal, but with the fender liner. This is with 295/70R18's. You may have it different with the 315's. You'll also likely need to trim the rear liner above the nose of the slider as well as bend over the pinch weld. A 1" Body Lift would help too, but again I'd go back to really defining what your goal is for all of the mods.

Out of curiosity, what is the total stroke of those front shocks? Hard to tell exactly from the pics, but they look short compared to mine.

And FWIW, I had my reservoirs mounted on the frame rail where you have them at first because it's a better angle for the hose. Found out like you did that avoiding rub isn't possible.
