I have a problem with the heater valve on my 94. The valve itself will move freely with the cable taken off. The cable barely moves with plyers and not at all with movement of the temp slider. Is there a small motor that is burned out that can be replaced?

My problem looks to be from a replaced hose on the heater valve that when replaced the person performing the fix used hose clamps. Well the clamp to the right side of the valve was blocking the valve movement. Really a stupid oversight on whoever did the fix. Im guessing that the motor that moves the cable is burned up and needing replaced.

My question is what is the actual name and/or model # for the replacement part? ALso I am going to dig into the dash to try to find it as well. If anyone has any help or pics please let me know. Thanks alot.

update:

I also think that the heater core needs to be flushed as well, as I can move the valve open and close and it doesnt change the air temp inside no matter how long it is left on a setting.

Anyone have the same issues and find a easy way to fix this?

Im unsure of the part # you are looking for, But IIRC its a vaccume type setup, It almost sounds like something has broken, But I have no idea what.
About the core flush, You need to flush the whole system if you think the heater core need to be done.
On the non changing temp. also IIRC that is a sign of a Head gasket issue, But I would start small with the heater possibly not switching first, Unless there are other items just not quite working well.
Good luck

EDIT.
upon rereading it.
have you checked the fluid level, Thermostat in good working order, Why was the hose replaced?
Just trying to help

I have no idea why the hose was replaced. I just bought this off my inlaws and it was a "spare" vehicle for them. I have checked the level and its good. I have heated hoses on both sides of the valve.

I have not checked the t-stat yet. I am not having any cooling problems with the engine just not getting the valve motor to move the valve and no heat. Other then that, this 80 runs great, and temp is right in the middle of the gauge and hardly moves when under pressure.

Thanks
