This morning I started up my ride (83 fj60) and the heater fan is not working. It was working just fine 2 days ago. When I select fan speed 1 there is a clicking in a relay under the fuse box. When I go from speed 1 to any other speed the fan still does not work and there is no clicking. Anyone know what's up with this? The fuse looks good.

look in the fuse box and make sure that the circuit breakers are not tripped. They are the relay looking things with a silver top inside the fusebox that's located near the left knee of the driver (left hand drive). The little guys have a small hole in the top of them that is accessible without removing them. Push a small wire into the hole to reset the breaker.

Mine trip occasionally.

Try smacking the motor with your hand with some force while the switch is on, no joke. Just like Wyomingben said, it could be the brushes and the motor may just be sitting in a position where its cant spool up on its own...

i have this issue on my 4Runner.. even went so far when i first discovered it to tear the dashboard apart and test each individual component. turnes out the brushes are going south, and i have yet to replace it. i just have to have the person sitting in the passenger seat kick under the dash with thier right foot and it fires right up

should i kick in the same place in my 60 as you do in your 4runner?
update: I am amazed at the wealth of information you all have. Thanks to TimberWolf with a well placed kick the fan clicks right on. Now the next question how do I go about replacing the brushes/motor?
