I just learned that, since the Cruiser I bought came with headers, I don't have a heat riser. I only learned this by browsing through some Cruiser websites. I checked under the hood to make sure. My FJ60 does have a rough time getting going on cold mornings. Will this heat riser make a difference? Is it worth it?

Thanks guys.

Not in my expierence, this is just one of the trade-offs with going to headers. There is a plate made/sold by some of the Cruiser parts houses that bolts to the bottom of the intake and routes engine coolant to the bottom of the manifold, to'replace' that missing heat riser... I have not found these to be very helpful, but I am sure that there are those who swear by them....

What carb are you using? Do you have a manual choke? Do you have any vaccum leaks?

Good luck!

I'm using a Weber 38/38, which comes with an automatic choke, a bummer. The carb works fine though. It's got all the emissions stuff removed, so no vacuum hoses to speak of, thus no leaks. Incidently, I recently added Man-A-Fre's adapter, which allows the use of the OEM linkage to the Weber. It's been a great improvement.
