Heat in truck without running the engine

I suppose a device like this could be very useful to the Diesel crowd, or to the gasser folks who roll out the air mattress on top of their second row/drawers and sleep in the rig during cold season camping trips.

Sounds good to me!

Where on the truck do you install this heater?
Where does the exhaust go?
Exhaust normally just straight down. Not good in a closed garage. But fantastic when going home from the cabin at minus 30. Start it either by remote, SMS/cellphone or by timer.

Leblanc: will we get pics?

Here is one installed in an LC90. Normally goes in about the same place in a 100 - Just move the little black box first (driver for IP).

As soon as I get it, i still want to talk to webasto to know which control I need to be a able to run it in thermostat mode.

the place you show it is pretty much the only place it will go, if install under the hood. There is a good number of wire there tho. Not sure mine will fit there, I have a fuse box between the battery and fuel filter.

Pending how this works out on your diesel, any chance your reseller would sell you one for a petrol truck? I would be happy to be a guinea pig to give it a try on my LC.

I am going to be doing a bunch of camping in the next few years in cold climates...that my be a useful addition to the truck.

Here somes pictures of what came with the unit, It is smaller then what i thought.

Doesn't rear heat and A/C on the 100 series run completely off electric power? Or is it just the A/C?

Or I could be completely wrong and thinking of something else.

Anyways those heater things are really cool

Hi Eric,
I also drive a diesel from 1 year in Canada (I had diesel for 20 years, but in south Europe) and true... it need a very long time to warm... more than 20Km (normal speed) to come close to the normal temp and then falling down agin when I arrive in town (iddling because of the trafic).
It's only a small VW TDI, modern, built for the country and spending 4 hours with the block heater on before starting.
I can imagine the trouble with a H engine.

I had a Webasto (with an Eberspracher control) in my HJ61 (bought used from Germany, same weather as Canada).
I used it only few time (south of France) but it's very nice to seat in a warm truck when the outside temp is around -10Celcius (Yes, it happens 2 or 3 time a year !) .
Enjoy !

For the story, I remember(10 years ago) the Chrysler Voyager (Dodge Caravan) sold in Europe (maybe not in Spain or Italy) came with a webasto (99.99% of them have diesel engine)

Rear heat are through engine coolant under the drivers seat. The rof vent in the back are for AC. But my rear AC is disabled on my truck and i don't plan on making it work (due to the diesel engine swap)

Pull the carpet or drop the tank?

I need to install a fuel pick up on the tank, which is easier, I was hoping the see a nice cover when lifting the left side seat but NOT. So i guess it is under the carpet. Remove the carpet or drop the tank?

I might even consider instead Connecting with T on the fuel line under the hood and put 2x check valve. Check valve are necessary to prevent the webasto to suck up the fuel from the pump.

Here is the webasto installed, i had to move a spill control unit to get the space needed. I also installed the webasto piping inline and after the viscous heater. The piping doesn't look nice with those collar, but if they ever become a issue for my eyes, i'll get a tube bended.

I think the engine bay needs a wash!
How much for the heater?
How are you going to get the coolant to flow, does the heater have a pump in it?

Look at post 26 you will see the black pump on the unit.

Any specs on the unit, how much flow, how much heat output?
How much $$$$$
Edit: 5.2 kW output, can't find specs on flow.
