Is there a hearing protector or earmuff (whatever you want to call it) that has a radio funtion in additon to the capability of plugging to a cell phone? I have found some with radio function and some with a jack for MP3 or other devices but not one that says it will do both.

I have to mow my place with a tractor and the noise will make me go deaf eventually if I do not use something.

I figured if I can listen to some tunes it would be good. I also have to be able to answer a cell phone pretty much immediately for my profession so I was wondering if there was a set that could send the ring to the headphones.

I don't need to talk, just need to hear the phone so I can stop the tractor and answer. To pre-empt a suggestion, I already have the phone on vibrate, but it is hard to tell sometimes when it is vibrating due to the vibration of the tractor.

Bose makes a noise cancellation set of head phones that you can plug an music player into. I work on a piece of equipment in a room where the dB is pretty loud constantly. The noise cancellation headphones have been a huge improvement over just plain muffs.

Noise reduction headphones do not protect you from hearing damage. Be careful using those a s a replacement for actual db reduction.

At only nuisance levels, they would work well, but at high dB levels, I'd tend to agree with you. Pairing the Bose headsets with simple in-ear earplugs would surely do the trick. They say they will work with music-enabled cells, so why not just for the ringer function, eh?

Just put your IPod ear buds in and then put the muffs over top. You're good to go!

It sounds like you need a cell phone with a built-in radio and music player. I commute by bus. My cell phone/radio/mp3 player is my best friend for avoiding any form of communication with the weirdos.
