I have an 05 lx. My headlights are scratched up cracked and very cloudy. What are my options? Should i replace with factory or is there an aftermarket solution? Just weighing my options. Help I cant see!!

There is some do it yourself stuff out there but am not sure how well it works. I had the same problem a few years back on a Volvo XC90. The Volvo dealer where I had it serviced had a special for headlight restoration that ran me about $80 (for both). They looked good as new when they were done and only wished that I hadn't waited so long to do it as it drove me nuts. Won't fix the cracks but gets out scratches and cloudiness.

You definitely have options if you would consider after-market. There is a ton of info at your fingetips (some high dollar some more affordable) by using the search function.

I had good luck using the 3M kit on my BMW headlight covers. It gave me a little anxiety sanding them down with stage 1 as they get cloudy and they look like crap. But after following all the steps and wet sanding and polishing they look great. It's a lot of work so if you have the money you might get a quote from a good mobile detail place that will refurb for you.

^ + on the 3M kit. Just did my Benz ML430 and got great results.

If they are glass your are best finding new lens. If they are plastic ive seen great results with the 3M kit posted above

The '05 LX has plastic headlamps. However, IIRC, it has a greenish hue to it. I'm wondering if that was a coating or if the plastic itself is green.

The lens is clear. It's the shroud that has the tint

I'm not sure honestly. I'd side on form over fiction on that.

Why did lexus go plastic on the '05? I have been reading posts on headlights and everyone says that the headlights are glass. I know what glass feels like but was swearing that my corners are plastic. Anyways i wet sanded with 1000 and 2000 grit. Now im waiting on my Menzerna SIP and super finish polish to come in. Right now they are ugly and clouded but should look good after I hit it with the polish and my brand new Makita 9227.
