While futzing around with the hid's I broke two of the nylon adjuster inserts since they are pretty old and brittle . Instead of repeating this issue again someday -

18-8 Stainless steel inserts that are press-fitted into the stock holes, will add a few tack welds with the tig ....
You can see the broken nylon insert next to the new ss insert .

Here's the insert driven into the hole from the front with a stock screw -

The new screws will be off-shelf 18-8 SS pan head philips , I'll tig a SS washer on the shank to match the oem screws, they should be in tomorrow from Fastenal .

hey sarge when you look st the lights can you see a distinct cut off ? i have he auto loc hid kit with high/low option in the hella lenz and the top half of the lens is light up on low beam with a sharp cut off if you are interisted i could try to get pics tommorow night ?

I have considered those but the cost was still pretty high . Has anyone ever seen them in real-world use ?? Wonder about actual color temp , fog reflection , heating ect..

na I was just being silly. those lights CAN'T be good. they are supposedly LED's but grouped behind a lens meant for an HID set up. They give no information other than lumen output. I wish I knew someone that could machine some aluminum, I'd make some real ones. I'm in the performance LED lighting field and have access to a wealth of data and information, just no access to aluminum machining.

Finally finished the inserts and the fabricated ss screws w/washer heads as well as got them welded in . Just need to paint them this week ...

I had welded one set of inserts before dinner and got started machining the screw's "washers" . Upon returning, fired up the Miller Dynasty tig only to find out the display is not working :bang::censor: .
It still welds , but no idea of where it's at . Ran some tests/diagnostics and no luck , gonna have to send it into the service center . This really sucks as I wanted to get going on the Weber thread but need to do some repairs to the spare intake I have .
Gotta love it ...
