Hi guys,

Doing my upgrade to 2013 Headlights from my 2008. All Original parts. I already got the ff working:

Ordered new sockets as I did not want to splice.

90980-10942 - Headliight (4 terminals)
90980-10897- Headliight (6 terminals)
82824-60430 - Fog Lamps

1) Park light to DRL = OK but I want to find a power source so it powers up when I start the truck.
2) Low Beam = OK
3) High Beam = OK
4) Signal = OK

Can seem to find out where these wires should connect to?

1) What's the GREEN small wire for? It goes into the housing and to the bottom of the HID then to the socket below.

2) RED wire goes to the DRL (LED) and to the socket below.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I will have to print this out and check it to the LX. I'm interested to see how this goes for my 2010.

Just FYI:

Not sure whether you are trying to upgrade an LX or an LC, but on US 2013 model Land Cruisers, the LED array below the headlights is NOT used for DRL's - the high beams are used for DRL's.

Thank you for the replies. Upgrading an LC. Here are the before and after pics. Here the DRLs are the ones under the headlights. They are usually ON when ignition is ON.

Hobie1 thanks for this thread. I am also in the process of collecting the necessary parts to upgrade my 2009. I am still shopping for a RH passenger side light. From what I have been reading, the connections will have to be swapped around to run LED's as DRL. Just like gaijin said, the LC does not come wired to run LED's as DRL like the LX. To do this will require splicing.

Sweet, I'm very interested in this, How are the HID's compared the 2008's? The wife's truck has great lights, they do work great, but often times she blinds oncoming traffic, I adjusted the beams down a little and that seemed to help. We have a ton of deer our area and live out int he country so good headlights are a necessity.
Still would be nice to have HID output.

I'm interested in the wiring diagram if anyone has this or figures it out

The high's are run in series in the DRL mode.

DRL's can be disabled via the center screen...Vehicle > Settings > Lights > DRL.

Since my brain was not functioning, I wrote something about the odometer reset switch...but that's related to turning off the PITA "ECO" light.

LED's are on if the headlamp switch is in any position other than "off" or "auto".

DRL's can be canceled by pressing and holding the odometer button with the odo set to "Trip A". You'll get a yes-no menu on the small display screen.

The LEDs don't come on when set to "auto" unless the headlights turn on, at least on my 2013. They do operate when either the parking lights or the headlights are on (either in "auto" or normal "on" mode).

Yeah, sorry about the "auto" thing...I never use it. Original post corrected.

Just to be sure Steve that you don't have a Unicorn the DRL do NOT come on unless the headlights are on and no one has yet to figure out a way of rewriting this.

If the amperage is the same, it seems like it would just require cutting the DRL lead and splicing it into the LED lead. Diodes before the splice would be wise on each wire to make sure there's no current leakage back. Lots of assumptions baked into this statement though (similar amperage, DRL + LED never ever run at the same time, etc). If the LX does it already it would be interesting to look at that wiring schematic and see how it's different.

Can you tell I like to tinker?

That's how you reset the Maintenance Data ...

To toggle the DRL's, I go to the Vehicle settings on the NAV unit and change the Lighting settings.

Did you end up getting all of this to work? I've got a set of 2013 LC headlights to fit to my 09

Good writeup and pictures. For those of you who have removed the 2013+ headlight assembly, have you noticed whether the LED accent lights are sealed within the housing, or can they be accessed for repairs or replacement? I might have shorted out the LED lights, and wanted to see if there's an easy way to access and replace the lights. Also, where did you buy your assemblies from, I think the lowest price that I saw for new was at least $600+? Thanks.

the LED are not easy to replace. You are suppose to replace the entire lamp.

You can buy the headlights new for $650-700 each or ebay you can get them for $300-500 a piece. This also doesn't include the ballast and bulbs which runs $130 for a pair of ballast on ebay and bulbs $20-100 depending brand and type.

not an cheap mod but I'm doing it for the better visibility over the halogen bulbs.

I did this same upgrade (reflector to projector assembly) on my 04 ES, then later upgraded the fogs to projectors. I can say that the lowbeam upgrade is worth the price (big improvement in width and distance of lighting) and it also updates the front end.
