Damn I was hoping it was bixenon. Kinda hesitant now to pull the trigger on these unless someone figures out how to make the LED strip work as DRL (full brightness) like in other markets
The LEDs wouldn't be as bright and would barely be visible during the day. So nobody has figured out yet how to get the LEDs to light up at full brightness? I was thinking that maybe it was the red wire? I could use one of those DRL relay kits on ebay to power that wire
It's an Asian-spec VDJ200 which doesn't have halogen DRLs. No factory nav so no way to enable them. No option to turn them on using Techstream either. I've seen 2013 models here that have the LED strip as DRL and they are BRIGHT - bright enough to blind oncoming traffic at dusk.
There is a link on this thread anout a device to enable the LED to be used as DRL but nobody has tried it out yet
So I'm still researching about this upgrade and stumbled upon a Russian forum. Says there that the 2013 lights are bixenon? Maybe only the US version lights have xenon lows only? The poster said "bixenon curtain works"
I finally pulled the trigger and got a set of OEM 2013 headlights. I can confirm that the non-US spec headlights are indeed Bixenon and all it takes to light up the LED strip in DRL high brightness mode is to connect +12v to the red wire. This red wire is absent in the US spec headlights I saw on ebay so I don't think it's possible to get the LED strip in the US lights to run as DRL. I'm going to have to use a couple of relays to switch +12v between the red and yellow wires of the LED strip. It might get fried if 12v is applied to the yellow and red wires simultaneously.
If you guys in the US want to upgrade to the 2013 lights then it makes more sense to get the overseas version since you get Bixenon and LED DRL for about the same price as the nerfed US spec lights
Not really "plug and play" since some splicing work on the headlight side harness is required. I bought a pair of HB3 and H11 extension harnesses so that I don't have to splice into the vehicle side wiring.
To get the DRL to work, I'm going to use two relays to feed fused +12v from the battery to switch between LED high and low

I am retrofitting 2013 headlamps on a 2010 VDJ-200.
The lamps are the non US (ROW) bi xenons with the DRL (hi/lo) LED strips. Left 81185-60F30 Right 81145-60F30
Got everything to work and figured out how to power the DRL´s with a relay setup.
What I cannot get to work is the headlight adjuster. On the vehicle side plug there is 12+, 12-, and a signal that varies form ~0 V to ~7 V, depending on the headlight dial position.
I tried to match the old headlight wire colors and it does not work. Here is what I have:
