Headlight options? Depo or other brand?

You drive on the right hand side of the road in left hand drive vehicles in Denmark, correct? I'd just be concerned with beam pattern if it was the other way. I know the JDM vehicles actually have cast into some of the lenses RHD or LHD, because running their lights blinds oncoming traffic here. The E-Code is legal here in Canada for retrofitting for compliance.

Yes we do. I have found Depos with E-code for LHD on german Ebay :-)

Great news. Can we see some pictures of the 100?

The DEPO headlamp quality is very good in general. I carry the pre-2006 1 piece DEPO lamp. Since you are going to upgrade to 2006-07 front end. The factory lamp is not too much more than DEPO for 06-07 model, at least in the US, not sure about in Denmark. DEPO make both LHD and RHD version for different market.

Will the final two versions of the headlights fit with the factory 98-2002 grille?

The 06-07 Depo headlamp is a direct replacement headlamp for 06-07 model cruiser. It does not work with 08-05 model without replacing with 06-07 radiator grill and headlamp valance ( metal piece below headlamp ). The 1 piece Depo headlamp I carry is designed for direct replacement for 08-05 model with no modification required that give you the updated look of 06-07 model cruiser. Hope that clear the clouds. :)

Hi guys

I've recently upgraded from a 1987HJ61 to a 2001 VX100.

Since the front fenders and upper tailgate are rusty, I'm planning on replacing them, and give the truck a +2006 facelift at the same time.

So regarding headlights I plan on getting something like the Depos, and add bi-xenon like it has been done here before.

But I have a hard time finding the Depos, but I do see a lot that look just like them, on Ebay, Amazon etc.

Are they the same, just branded differently?
Does anybody have any experience with them?

Thanks!

The genuine Depo headlamp quality is actually pretty good, it is made in Taiwan not China, but stay away from no brand look alike Chinese made lamp they are not the same. I know the 80 series one I carry are e-codes for European LHD market. Let me check on the pre 06 Depo lamp and see if it is E-coded as well.

Whatever makes you sleep better at night. I prefer the OEM for beam pattern and light output and lack of UV yellowing over time. All of the aftermarket headlights I've tried have had moisture issues and 'sandblasted' quickly. I guess it's one of these 'you get what you pay for'.
Not the knocking the Depo's - I know they are well respected as insurance replacements, just don't think they rival OEM in any argument but price!

My experience with a 2000 LC has been that the OEM beam pattern and light output isn't all that great, and while the OEM glass lens doesn't "yellow", the reflector goes from "shiny" to "satin" further reducing the output over time. My experience with an 04 4runner was that Toyota OEM plastic lenses "yellow" as badly as anyone else's plastic lenses.

My OEM fog lights were scratched and yellowed to the point you could not see the bulb in them. About 15 minutes of work on each of them with sanding pads and polishes, and they looked clear and good as new. I'm not concerned about yellow lenses. :-)
