Hi guys

I've recently upgraded from a 1987HJ61 to a 2001 VX100.

Since the front fenders and upper tailgate are rusty, I'm planning on replacing them, and give the truck a +2006 facelift at the same time.

So regarding headlights I plan on getting something like the Depos, and add bi-xenon like it has been done here before.

But I have a hard time finding the Depos, but I do see a lot that look just like them, on Ebay, Amazon etc.

Are they the same, just branded differently?
Does anybody have any experience with them?

Thanks!

if you are looking for 2006-7 depos, I can say that they are extremely good for reproductions. And cheap, just not plentiful. The 2006 version depos are cheaper than the one piece pre 06 version. I think

Thanks for the replys!

My plan was to install projectors in them, just like you yotasavg.

Could one of you snap a pic of the codes on the glass?
I would like to see if there's E-codes on them?

And it looks like there are headlights on Ebay and Amazon that look just like Depos, but under different names, any experience with these?

OEM are about $200 each USD, much better quality and no concerns with moisture unlike the cheap knock offs.

guess I'm fxxxed then, I put $1000 into those plastic s*** parts. lol. Plastic is plastic. If the screw holes line up for the grill and the lower fascia, and the 4 holes line up in the body then I'd pretty much call it good. Florida humidity to. This aint no 911

Whatever makes you sleep better at night. I prefer the OEM for beam pattern and light output and lack of UV yellowing over time. All of the aftermarket headlights I've tried have had moisture issues and 'sandblasted' quickly. I guess it's one of these 'you get what you pay for'.
Not the knocking the Depo's - I know they are well respected as insurance replacements, just don't think they rival OEM in any argument but price!

I know genuine might be better, but as I plan on retrofitting projectors unoriginals should be fine.
One issue with the ones I have seen here, and jerryb's pic is that they don't have the E-code, that I need for the MOT, regardless of what I do to them later...

I've found these:

Scheinwerfer Hb3 + Hb4 Links + Rechts Satz Set | eBay

Although it doesn't say in the description that they are Depo, they look just like this one:

DEPO Scheinwerfer HB3 + HB4 Rechts TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 100 J9 | eBay

which should be a Depo... It should be 2007, but I'm not sure, since the add's seems to be confusing it a bit...

Can you contact them and they can advise if they are E-Code? I think your going to have trouble finding E-Code aftermarket Chinese lights, as they are destined for the North American market. You may have to go OEM Toyota European, as well as confirming Right/Left hand drive for beam pattern compliance. We deal with the same issues here in Canada with importing and compliance of vehicles for lighting front and rear.

I would also assume your headlights in Denmark would be H style bulbs, whereas here we have 9000 series bulbs, probably a moot point as you plan to go HID. I see some E code listed headlights here, might be worth a look;

A bit of confusion here...

My truck is 2001, but since it needs new fron fenders and lower trim piece under the grille, I've decided to upgrade to 2007 front.
The headlights I linked to have the appropriate E-codes, I'm just not that confident in the build quality.
But having read here how many of you who are pleased with your Depo's, I got inspired.
But it seems like Depo makes an American and an European version.

Whether or not the quality is the same remains a question...

The single one below is supposed to be a depo made for the European market. The one's below don't mention the manufacturer...

Btw those are for HB3 and HB4 bulbs, just as Yardpig mentioned...
I just googled it, and HB3 and HB4 are 9005 and 9006...
Go figure...
