Pull #5 and #6 plugs out and compare. If no deposits are noticed or if the plugs appear the same then pull #4. I hat to say this but it sounds like you still have a leak into the combustion chamber. My bet is that #6 will have deposits and won't look like #5.
258K nice! Rob my "new to me" rolled Green 94' is puffing the white smoke and draining H2o out the tail pipe as well. 162K on this one.
So you don’t feel alone… the PHH on my Green 93' just blew as well! Two 80's and both are down with the top two notaries aliments. Fun stuff in Metal-tech land!
I would make make sure all the connections do not have any moisture(I have seen this after a engine cleaning before). It was the TPS and the IAC connections that had moisture. When I clean these that condition went away. It also could be the connection at the Air flow sensor.
I would think if you get the regulating condition done, and you run it for a bit the moisture would go away. Just idleing is not enough heat to get rid of alot of moisture. I have had a dump of oil get into the exhaust system and it took driving it for some time to get rid of the oil also. Any how, the regulating at 2000 rpm is something along the connections, maybe a ground left off under the intake runner? Some time you may have enough ground for some things, but it takes good grounds to make it run properly.
Also Is the distributor drive gear installed right? I once installed this wrong and lots of weird stuff happened. Also did the TPS check out ok and is adjusted ok? This if wrong will create some timing issue(not being able to make it right on the distributor). Just some minor mistakes that have set me and other back a little. good luck robbie
Thanks much gang, its all good after running it downt the highway. Specal thanks to Cdan for faxing me the part of the FSM needed to complete this job.
Purrs like a kitten.
Oh Man, is this good news to hear!! I'm fired up that it was a false alarm and that your work paid off! That's gotta be a sigh of relief and a restoration of pride in firing it up and finding an errand to go on, eh?
Wow, I'm so happy to hear the happy ending. Really makes all the work worthwhile and super satisfying at this point. Thank the good lord that you are not the type to get pissed and drive the whole thing off a cliff! Can you imagine it descending and you see the steam stop halfway down! I'm sure the thoughts were total torture while you were thinking it was still screwed up despite all that work. Good show all around man, much respect.
