I was installing a new head gasket on my 87 60 and installed it oriented the wrong way. I put the tab toward the front but when I put the water pump back on, I realized that wasn't gonna work. Problem is, I had alread torqued down the head bolts. I took the head back off, flipped the gasket, put the head back on and retorqued the bolts. Since I only torqued but didn't start the engine, will the head gasket be okay?

FYI, I have ordered 2 different gaskets lately, and neither of them was marked "up" or "top" or "front" or anything. So put the tab toward the BACK and forego the hastle of having to break your back taking the head off a second time!

You'll be fine.
Just recheck the bolts in a couple of weeks and check for any leaks at the head.
