I’m assuming you checked the bulbs & you turn single works properly.
I would suspect the emergency/hazard light flasher relay. Or maybe your switch isn’t making good contact.

what truck is this?

99 105 series diesel. Indicators work,I looked at the switch behind the dash but it is a circut board.

I would normally agree that it is the flasher relay, but from looking at the schematic, it appears to have only one for both. And since the turn signals are working, I am starting to lean towards the switch being the problem. Or at least that would be the easiest thing to fix.

Aussie, I have the schematic in pdf format if you need it.

Thanks for the offer,I'll keep thinking about it and might have to take you up on your offer,I'll let you know

Do you have an aftermarket bumper with extra indicator lights integrated in it?

I have found that one some LC's as soon as more globes are added that the hazard lights stops working. We have fixed this by fitting lower wattage globs in the aftermarket bumper.

If you suspect that it is the switch itself pull out the centre panel and swop it wiht a buddies. It is a one banana job.

Here is a pic of the centre part of the dash removed.

And another one to remove the dust from the intrument cluster.

No extra blinkers.I don't think anyone will let me pull their dash out.I was hoping someone could tell me a way to test the switch being a circut board its got me stuffed.

From what I can see in the circuit diagram in my Max Ellerys manual, if you earth (ground)the white wire at the flasher unit the hazard function will work, this also appears to be the case with the downloaded wiring diaagram from toyota for a 2003 Lexus or LC, although in the latter, the switch is not shown and it refers to the Center Cluster Integration Panel and A/C Control Assembly, but these go to the same white wire at the flasher, so if you earth(ground) it, it should turn your hazards on. If this works then you can find the white wire at the hazard switch, and also the white-black earth(ground) at the switch and see if it is switching or not.

Thanks for that I will try tomorrow.

Maybe LEXUSBEN can send you a pdf file of the circuit, ask him (or PM him), he is very obliging and helps everybody out here. I can't garuantee what info I have given you will work for you , or if it is correct, it may blow something up in your cruiser, who knows, it is correct to the best of my knowledge, hope it helps!!

Replying to an old thread but hopefully this helps someone.
I had exactly the same issue with my '99 105 series standard. Both left and right indicators worked individually but the hazards would not work.
Best I can tell the indicators are switched on via the "stalk" on the steering wheel and the hazards are switched on via a switch soldered into a small "daughter board" behind the switch its self, which talks to the "mother board" of the switch cluster containing the rest of the switches in the dash including A/C, Recycle air, fan speed etc. This is why the indicators worked but the hazards did not.
Auto electrician could not definitively diagnose whether the problem was in the mother board of the main switch cluster or the hazard light daughter board.
Both are relatively easy to change out, but are costly.
Daughter board was in the order of $400 including flasher unit/relay and the mother board was $3,000 (no typo, THREE THOUSAND!) ex Japan.
After testing the daughter board and the flasher unit, the problem lingered, narrowing it down to the mother board.
I managed to source a full switch cluster replacement from a wrecker for $150 and swapped it out.
This resolved the hazard light issue and some other minor "sticking" of A/C and recycle air switches.
I was very lucky to:
1) Have a good auto electrician who kept the new parts he had ordered and only charged me for labour.
2) To find a fully functioning part so cheap from a wrecker saving me $$$$.

The job cost me $350 in labour (diagnosis/fitting), $150 in parts and a bit of running around.

Another 5 years, and another followup. I have a 1998 HZJ105R. The hazards suddenly stopped working (there may have been a ground issue, I dunno). Turn signals work. AC and recycle air switches still work. For my truck, there is no CDL button, just a plug.

For my specific application, the part number is on the back, 84010-60100. The part is on order from a wrecker in QLD, and will hopefully fix my problem. I'll update when/if it does. Perhaps this information will help someone.

Good God I am jealous of that 1-5+R pattern in your rig.

Update with partial success. I was able to swap in the center dash unit. The hazards work, and the vent/recirc button works better. Unfortunately, the AC button no longer works. I may try to swap parts internally and update further, or order a new unit. Sigh.

How much was the center dash unit?

Not cheap. It was $350 AUD shipped to central Oz. But it did solve the problem. The AC switch started working after a while, so now I have a spare for everything but the hazard switch.

There should be a part number on the back if you pull yours out.

OK - I had this exact issue just now on my 2001 LC100 4.2TD (UK Spec)

In the UK working hazard lights are required for an MOT, no MOT (needed every year) no Go - your car is not road legal

and my MOT was due, today

I looked thru this thread with dread as there was no way I was going to replace the motherboard - i can only imagine how much it would cost, so this is what I did

from the service manual I found the pin diagram for the flasher relay (the flasher relay is in the drivers footwell my car is obvs RHD)

clearly pin 8 is the man

so I did a continuity test as specified

off - no continuity - check
on - no continuity - check

so thats the issue - the hazard switch is not providing a ground to pin 8

to test I grounded, it with a piece if wire

Hazards now working - check

OK so now I know what the problem and what the fix is - a new switch that shorts pin 8 to ground - simple

next stop Amazon to buy a switch

by luck rather than judgement it seemed like it was going to fit in the spare switch above the rear locker switch

so wired it all up - and bingo, working Hazard switch - hope that helps someone

i did take the central binnacle off - but didn't need to in the end

installed and working
