Has anyone tried to put one of these in the stock location of a 60? Autometer part# 1410, 5" diameter

I like my stock gauges just fine. Sure there not the most accurate gauges out there but suit me just fine. Stock motor here though...

At some pont, I'd like to build a custom dash plate that'll just fit over the plastic of the factory instrument cluster area and convert it all over to all Autometer electronic gauges. I know it'll take quite a bit of modification to the wiring, and replacing the speedo cable with a run of wires is going to be a PITA, but it's one of those "fun" projects for down the road.

In response to your question, I do plan to use the multigauge in place of my factory gauge. Autometer makes great stuff.

I like this idea. The stock guages are more like fancy idiot lights than an actual guage. I have an aux oil pressure guage, and want to add an aux water temp guage, but hate the look of dead stock guages. Do they have senders that will work for all four?

They do, with the exception of the speedo sender, which I THINK the GM one can be adapted, as you can get a keyed shaft. I don't know if it'll fit the speedo output on our tcases, and I know the threads on the sleeve won't match, but I'm sure something could be adapted. Worst case scenario is that you'd need a two or three inch long speedo cable made up to adapt the sender.

I think the replacement senders can be used with the stock wiring as well, though I would imagine the fuel gauge sender might be a bit of a challenge, as the long run of wire does put more resistance in the circuit, especially being 17+ years old. I would think that you could take an ohm reading and then adjust the sender accordingly to compensate for it. Wouldn't imagine it would be too difficult.

because it would be close to factory look and get an accurate reading for temp rather than I'm hotter/colder than I was 5 minutes ago. I know that guage is big $, well really big $$$ but I don't like the look of guages hanging down under my dash or some other hard to read place.

The only other solution I'd like would be an A-pillar mount of some sort. But I can not find a vehicle specific mount for anything but FJ80's

No electronic gauges are going to be very accurate, AutoMeter or not (I have 5 AutoMeters in my '56 F100), unless you spend major bucks ($200+ ea).

Probably the best & cheapest thing you could do is put mechanical gauges on your engine temporarily to calibrate the stock ones. They're a lot more accurate.
