I bough a new head unit and figured out that maybe I will save myself running some wires and still use the stock amp.

1. I have connected the RCA outputs to the amp speaker inputs.
2. The new head unit turns on and has an 'amp on' wire which sends 12v to trigger the amp. I also connected this to the amp trigger signal

And I have silence. Does the amp need some other signal? Or is the audio somehow encoded instead lot the regular RCA line out?

Yes, I know that I can remove a socket and connect directly to the speakers but I wanted to play a bit.

OK. nevermind.

Did some reading and found a thread where it says the stock amp is crap, noisy and sometimes heats up with aftermarket units. I am ditching it away but I don't know how to delete this post...
