Trip Report: Friday afternoon halfway to Hard Rock from Winter Park my rear driveshaft went boom, AAA'd to the Park and got there at around 8:30 PM.

Saturday morning, when I went to pull the yokes off the transfer and diff, discovered excessive play in the diff pinion, so at Luis's suggestion the diff came out too (thankful for full-floater).

Luckily it was only the nut that was loose, since that diff had been in the front of my truck it never caused an issue, but now in the rear going +65mph I figure that's what caused the driveshaft breakage. Luis supplied a new u-joint and the slip yoke from his spare driveshaft, Ray supplied Permatex and Greg supplied lots of help/hands. Thanks to all for helping me get my rig going again.

Wheeling was good with no breakages besides me getting stuck twice due to not listening to Luis's spotting  Greg took a bunch of pictures so I'm sure those will be up soon.

Looks/sounds like a great time for all.

Thanks for the pictures!!!

Only have five things left on my cruiser to get back on the road, tires are too clean, I need dirt/mud/water/rocks anything other than concrete.

I still have the BMW bucket seats and the soft top if anyone wants them, free and pick up only, if not soon they will go to the landfill.

Is Richloam in anyone's thought in a month or so???

Had a great time wheeling and seeing old friends and meeting new one's and Jerry I up for a trip to Richlaom. charlie

So am I !

is that the place that floods easily and often? ummm and has claimed the engine of a cruiser or two? im interested in an off road gig next mo. but not interested in becoming one of the LC submarine club members.

I have never been to richloam that water did not come close to coming into my doors. Adding "submarine mods" such as extending diff and transfer case breathers up higher into engine compartment is wise.

Yeah, my truck went under. Water was over the hood because I misjudged the correct line...

Spent most of the day that day in the water, at least at bumper level. Screwed up the bearings in my compressor pulley, which I still have yet to fix. So not only do you want breathers, but also WD-40 and dielectric grease in anything that might get wet.

It's usually a soaker from June -> November out there.

^ no electronics, good size lift, not worried about rust, you're set up perfectly for it! :)
