I like and have 2 of the jacks that Costco sells, they are about $70 and even Discount Tire uses them........one of mine is 6-7 years old and sits outside......still works like new

pretty sure the Costco ones lift as far.

works fine on all my Cruisers

I like that it lifts to 31-5/8''.

I'm on my second one. The first worked fine for quite a while but started to leak down after more than a year so I bought the second. The first wouldn't go down fast - it took all night and I was using it under my trucks which weigh at least 7500 lbs total and the jack max almost per axle. It's in my barn now for sometimes I might need it down there use.

I've got a HF 2 1/4-ton jack and it's just fine. No problems. Someone I know has the three ton version and they don't have any problems either. We've both had ours for a couple of years now.

Thing to remember is, the company in China that produces that jack probably paints that same model 20 different colors and sells it to who knows how many other retailers (Like Northern Tools - or maybe someone who sells it for a much higher price)

Shame you need the long frame jack - Sears had a 3 ton for around $80.

I have the 3-ton version and it's fine. It only lifts about 20" but that seems to be more than enough even for the cruiser. You have to lower it carefully since it will drop quickly if you're not real easy on the release, but once you get the hang of it, it's no biggie.

Lorcin? or something like that

i've got both the 2 1/4 and the 3 ton...four years, no problems. but i totally understand the 'being scared of harbor freight crap' thing. ;)

Don't recall, but I have seen similar jacks with different paint all over. I think Pep Boys sells one, some others...it all gets hazy after a while.

Also, saw a 3 ton at Sams for $68. Had either the Michellin or Good Year name on it. Fit and finish was much nicer than the HF, but that doesn't raise or lower a vehilce any better/worse.

I have the smaller one and like it.

Well from looking around I can't say that I can find a better deal for the lift, but not many places did I find long frame jacks so thats something to consider. Where will it be? Just in the garage? Then I'd say go for it.

Oh, and its on sale here for $120 so its even better where you are.

Did you get the Harbor Freight heavy duty long frame jack? I'm thinking of getting one tomorrow. I'm going to go look at it, then go to some pawn shops, and if I don't find a better one cheaper, I'll go back and get it. The guy I talked to at the store said it's on sale for $119 for a week or two.

Now does anybody know anything about rebuilding a floor jack? My old one has blown it's seals I guess. Last time I used it, I had to jack fast and get my stands under the truck. It kept slowly going down. I tried to use it last weekend, and it wouldn't even jack up at all. It looks like a good old heavy duty jack but I can't find a brand on it.

2 main things I'd check:
- has to be really tall to jack up a cruiser by the frame, especially lifted
- the valve opening's gotta be smooth so you can lower slowly.

Ditto what e9999 said. FWIW: I have a 3-ton rated floor jack that I originally bought at Costco. It has worked fine on all my vehicles up to the 100. It strains to lift the front or rear end of the 100. It does it but you can tell the 3-ton rating must not be accurate. If I do it again I think I'll get a 5-ton import jack (HF, etc.)...I'm sure a 3-ton rated professional jack made stateside would be fine but they are way out of my pocketbook.

And it would be nice if the jack had a 25"ish lift height. This isn't such a big deal as you can make or have a metal shop make an extension to get a few more inches of vertical from a lesser jack.
