Hey Matt,

Just a quick note to say Happy Birthday! See you on the trail.

Thanks Jereme!

It was a pretty good birthday. Starting to feel better and get some strength back. The :princess: and I went for a drive up to Tahoe, then had a good dinner with the family.

Thanks Keith!

4runner is awesome! It performed great on the con a few months back. I haven't been able to work on it in a while. Actually haven't been able to drive any of my toyotas for months cause I haven't been doing to well lately. It really really sucks cause I just stare at them in the garage and wish I could just get behind the wheel and go, but can't... My dad drives them to keep the batteries up.

Thanks Jereme!

Good to hear it. There are few things better in life than a nice meal with family & friends.

Thank you everyone!

Harry, that sounds great to me. Sucks, but i think it won't be till the spring time at the earliest. Hopefully I can work on the runner a bit more over the winter. Starting to get a bit stronger each day and walk farther around the neighborhood.

I'm just really glad I was able to run the Rubicon before all this happened. Also glad I didn't get sick on the Rubicon, now that would have been a s***ty situation!

My welding skillz don't come close to your's but if you need any help turning wrenches just say the word. Or if you want to just dent someone else's junk you can always borrow my Tracker. :D

Sounds good! I was just about to start my Engel aluminum mounting frame when all this started. A little practice with the spool gun is in order cause my first few welds looked pretty nasty too.

I took the land cruiser out for an hour long drive the other day. Felt so good to drive my truck since its been months.... I had chemo #2 last week and feel pretty good now. Hopefully this trend will continue!

Good to hear! Normally if you don't get sick with the first round then you are pretty good for the rest. I know when my mom was still alive that she always was able to make it through the first round and then would do well with the rest. Keep strong dude! Definitely don't over do things as your body is much weaker than you realize. You will get back around to feeling stronger and everything will be great again with you on the trail!

Glad to hear that you are doing better. As always if you need anything, I'm right across the valley.

Jack

I'm sure you'll do much better than I did with my MM spool gun on aluminum. I found it to be a beotch. On the flip side welding aluminum with my HTP TIG has been fun, fun and more fun! After all I read before TIG welding aluminum I was anxious about it. But after doing it I actually much prefer it to TIG'n steel.

I'd let you use my HTP but darn it...I'm 12-hour round trip away now

Chemo?!?

WTF?!?

Yeah, sucks... I have non Hodgkin's lymphoma and they say its stage 4. So pretty far along I guess... Things have been pretty bad cause I also have Epstein–Barr virus in my throat which I guess is associated with lymphoma. I can barely swallow water at times it's so painful.

Basically I started getting really tired at work one week. I went home on my days off and slept for a long time. I went to the dr and turns out I have a blood disorder called hemolytic anemia. So my blood levels were all screwed up and I went to see a specialist. That's when they discovered the cancer. I've been dealing with the EBV for months and that on top of the cancer has made life a living hell at times. I've been in the CICU multiple times and at one point I had a 108 fever. I had nights were I was on fire but my body was shivering cause I felt like I was freezing. They had me wrapped in ice blankets just to cool me down. I've spent my fair share of time in the hospital and hope I don't go back. When this all started I weighed 205, now I'm down to 162.

Luckily I have the best family imaginable. My gf and I are living with my folks cause I'm too weak to fully live on my own. My moms retired so she helps me throughout the day. My job has done the same and I have had people donate the maximum time of sick leave possible. The undersheriff and other admin came to visit me at the hospital and see how I was doing. It's really helped me stay positive when I have that kind of support.

So that somewhat sums things up. Trying not to be a debbie downer...! Been rough but I've got a lot of support and I'm fighting through it!

Matt,
Sorry to hear what you have had to endure. Glad you are doing better and hope the final road to recovery is not long.

I know I speak for all of us here-that is if we can help in anyway please let one of us know. Yard work party, rides to Dr. work on rigs- anything! Sounds like your folks and wife are taking good care of you--but if there is something they can't do please let us/me know.

^^What he said.

Jack
