I think Greg and I are going to do a PHH replacement on the same weekend. It's going to be an 80's weekend....

Sorry all, family health issues have been consuming me. Let's try and figure out a date and I'll get some parts ordered.

How about 8/22? That should be enough time for me to get all my parts.

8/22 works for me.

hope your families health issue have improved. we can push this out if need be. after all family 1st.

^ What he said. Hope everything is ok Ramon.

Are we planning to have a HAMOM (Front Axle Rebuild) on 8/22, if so I would like to post up in a new thread for those interested in attending/helping.

I think I'll be good to go for next weekend. I am going to try to order all the parts today. Will make sure they are going to be here in time. If so, I'll cook some Q for everyone and we'll do it at my house.

Don't know where we stand for HAMOM sign-ups so I'll throw my hat in the ring for one to come. I found a deal on factory locked axles to throw under our FZJ80. The "deal" includes both axles (with 80k on them), switch, ECU, wiring and most everything I'll need for a front knuckle rebuild.

The axles are being freight shipped from Dallas some time next week, not sure of a projected arrival day. Once I get them, inspect everything, determine what else I need to find, acquire said parts, I'll follow up with a time frame for a HAMOM. I'm guessing some time end of October (24th or 25th) might fit into the plan.

I've been reading through the various axle swap threads and hope that my '97 is pre-wired as is suggested in the threads and the axles are in the condition the seller is advertising them as. Then, I'll have to decide what to do with the take-offs...sell them or start working on them to throw under the FJC when I can afford to do the SAC on it...

I would totally be game for helping out. I think it would be easier to rebuild those axles off the truck. IMHO,
Robert

Just let me know where and when, sir. I'd be happy to help. I am going to rebuild my front this weekend.

Go ARB, your daughter is sure going to have the nicest car at school soon :grinpimp:

I'm committed to a project this weekend, otherwise, I'd come by to help. Eric was brave enough to allow me to work on his during the last HAMOM and I learned a bunch getting more hands on with that PM...

Sounds very interesting. I say sell them if you can. You are going to want locked units for your SAS anyway. Of you could just go ARB I guess.

ARB is the plan for the future "upgrade" to the FJC, I like the way the work better than the e-lockers. However, this is WAY long term, meaning next winter at best. The "experts" say that its a waste of money to use these axles for such a build up and just go with Dana 60's (as in Curries/Diamond) but being one to always buck the trend (yes, I'm stupid), if I have these laying around, might as well see if they will work, right?

ARB's for the FJC for sure, the factory e-lockers for the 80 will "complete" it. Then, it will be all the "small stuff" to keep it clean and safe for my girls to drive until it MINE...:grinpimp:

I got a better idea lets mount those 80 series axles under the 40 and go 4 link coil sprung 40....or if you really want to get creative I'll take em and we can try it on the 55.

I was actually thinking that they would be great under the 40. I also think that a 60/14 combo under the FJC would be awesome and push that thing to a whole new level.

Hell we could have a huge meeting at your place with a fix what you bring type thing. Looks like you have the room and the shop now :D
