Hey all, will likely be doing a front axle rebuild on Emma's "new to us" 80 in the not so distant future. I would like to jump in for around August/September timeframe.

 R

We could do both in a day if you come over, we can do them here if we have enough folks show up.

I can PM you the info on the tierod ends. I also replaced the relay rod ends at the same time a couple month ago.

FWIW, on the knuckle rebuild kit, I ordered mine with all the bearings from Iron Pig.

I'm getting ready as I got most of the parts ordered today. next on the list is to get some fluids and do some reading!

Did you order new OEM rods and ends??? If you haven't give Bud a call at Bud built. Way beefier than stock and he has the ends most of the time also. If not call Kurt at cruiser outfitters his end kit is $89 for all four. They are the same circle 555's that sometimes comes from toyota.

thanks for the info. I'm spreading it around, i ordered the "beefier then stock" rods from Bud (nice guy) he was out of the ends but is going to source me some oem ends since i wasn't in a hurry. i ordered marlin HD inner seals and a couple other items from Slee. i called IPOR for the knuckle/bearing kits but got their answering machine, will call back monday.

Yeah bud is the nicest guy I have ever talked to on the phone period. Plus with him in Lenoir he is a local guy.

I'm trying to convince him to make some skid plates for the 80. When you talk to him again mention it to him.

Bud is a nice guy. He stopped by NC State last fall and took measurements for FJC skids that would be compatible with a FabTech lift. Never heard back from him though, so if you want to convince him to do something for the 80 you'll probably have to bug the hell out of him.

OME 850J/863 Lift

I think my OME lift kit has sat in the back of my truck long enough. It's time for me to put it on. Maybe not an official HAMOM, but anyone willing to lend a hand to a newb would be very much appreciated. I think I have everything I need, but would appreciate any suggestions to make installation easier.

I'm thinking Friday afternoon, Aug. 7th. I get out of work around 3pm and should be good to go by 4pm. I will order pizza (sorry, no grill) and have beer on hand for anyone stopping by.

If it all works out, I can probably pick up some new shoes for the rig on Saturday and have something to show at the Charlotte meeting at Whitewater on the 9th.

Al, now's your chance to make up for backing out on helping me with the axle rebuild :flipoff2:.

any dates in mind yet? almost got all the parts ready. need to pick up some greese and fluids, and shop towels.
