Hello everyone, my name is Gabriel and I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have a 1977 BJ40 that requires a knuckle and brake rebuild. I have ordered knuckle rebuild kits, new calipers, rotors, master cylinder, brake pads, and some soft lines.

I have the calipers off right now, and I am going to try and take it apart some more this weekend to 1. Look around and get myself familiar around the axle and 2. To save time when people come over to help me.

I also have engine trouble. The engine is completely rebuilt, but the extra bits are not connected. I have all the parts (I think) but it is all in the back of the truck and not under the hood where it belongs. The priority is the axle but help in the engine would be great too.

Would December 18 be a good date? I would rather get it done before January but I understand if that date is not possible.

My address is 9105 Kirkhill Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina 27615

Any help on this would be great.

Hopefully the link works.
If not look for OTTRAM channel on YouTube and he has an excellent video rhat walks you through an axle rebuild. I usually watch it two or three times before doing a rebuild just to help me remember tips and tricks since I don’t do as many as some folks on here.

Yea, I saw a few videos but I want to do it at a HAMOM because it’s my first time doing anything mechanical in my car, and I don’t want a wheel coming off or my brakes not working when I’m driving, so I want it to go right the first time

I watched one specific to a FJ40 axle earlier

December 18 works for me.

Haven't heard about this in a while. What's the word Gabriel?

Still happening, I’m disassembling the axle as best I can, amd I have the parts to rebuild it in form of brake parts and a knuckle kit. I’ll provide some food and drinks.

We missed you at the monthly meeting on the 1st.

What time do you want me there Saturday?

You have all the tools? 54mm socket, brass drift or brass hammer, etc.

Yep I’ve got the tools. I’m free literally all day, I’m not sure when is appropriate. I would like to get as much time on the car as I can, so earlier the better I think. I had a track race in Winston Salem that weekend, so I couldn’t make it, but I should hopefully be there next month

Weather forecast alleges it will be in the 70s that Saturday. Great weather

Where are my Raleigh peeps at? Who can make it out?

Thanks to everyone that came out! It was a lot of fun, and a lot more progress got done that I would have been able to accomplish on my own! I really appreciate it.

We need the pics man!! lol

Had a great time today Gabriel! Sucks we couldn't finish the front end, but once your rotors come in it'll be done in no time.

Can't wait to see it on the trails!

Forgot to take pics but my mom took a couple. Also has photo evidence of Sean and his jacket that he left behind lol
