I just got the Android version of the Hamilton carplay for my 2016 LC. I ordered the Android version after they told me it has more functionality, has the external speaker, and has an HDMI jack that allows connection to the rear screens. (The tradeoff is it's about $100 more and apparently the bootup time is about 30s vs the linux version which boots up in about 10s).

What's unclear to me is how the HDMI connection works. Hamilton support told me today that there is an HDMI input on the back of the head unit that the Carplay plugs into. But I haven't see anything online that supports this. The only solution I've seen is running an HDMI cable from the Carplay to the rear center console where there's an HDMI input (I don't want to do this). Does anyone have experience with this? Have you connected carplay to the rear screens and if so how has this worked?

I'd like to figure this out before installing. Everything else looks pretty straightforward on the install
Thanks
