Hi folks,

I installed the Hamilton car play/Android auto premium kit on my 2016 LX570 this past Friday. Note this is the kit which comes with a new touchscreen. There is another kit that just has car play/AA but uses the existing display. Link below.

I thought I'd do a long review and stuff, but honestly there is nothing much to say here, it's FANTASTIC.
Everything works, like literally everything.

Watched the install video, took me like 2ish hrs to install, no surprises, nothing broke, everything just simply worked. Sure getting the cables routed was a bit of work, but if you use a guide wire, honestly it was fine.

I use Android Auto so can't say about car play, haven't tested that yet. It takes about 30s to boot up. Switching between the Lexus interface and this is really straightforward.

OnX works, even my ODBMX+ works, putting it in reverse brings up the camera, and switches back and forth seemlessly. Steering controls all work, switching camera modes from the dash button is a breeze, in 4x4 mode I can get my camera views, basically no surprises. Mouse works, it shows up as a highlighted red dot when you move it, and it doesn't snap to the Lexus menu screens something I was worried about.

Best upgrade I've done to my vehicle so far, just do it!
I had previously installed a carpodgo t3 pro separate screen which was also good, but it was mounted with brackets, and kind of took away from the original look of the vehicle, now everything is perfect the way Lexus intended it to look like, no wires, no mess.

Let me know if y'all have any questions.

Looks great!
What's the price, and how long did the installation take?

I’m so glad you shared this! I have been shopping CarPlay solutions and just stumbled on this full screen replacement. If it works as advertised, this is the best solution I’ve seen (on paper anyway). A couple questions, if you don’t mind!

  • Is it resistive or capacitive touch?
  • Does it improve the resolution on the native controls? What is the resolution? Assuming it’s higher than the stock display, do the camera feeds improve?
  • How are the steering wheel controls?
  • Is it just android auto, or full blown android tablet (I’m an apple guy, but to have the ability to install native apps would be cool)?
  • Does the volume display on the screen?
  • What are the shortcomings if you had to find them?

Does the version that doesn't include the new touchscreen function in the same was as the touchscreen version just without the ability to touch the screen?

From what I can tell by their website and random posts and YouTube videos, it’s a bit different. My assumption is that it’s in general a much more “native” experience. I’m hoping for a confirmation from OP, but I think things like visible volume indicator, ability install full blown apps (rather than the CarPlay/AA variants), and the button on the steering wheel that triggers Siri/Android instead of that terrible Lexus assistant are the more notable callouts. That said, I’d love to hear—or watch—a first hand account of the overall experience, because admittedly, I’m running off 100% hearsay and marketing pitches.

Sorry just saw this haven't logged in for a bit.
1. It doesn't say, but from my experience, this is surely capacitive, no issues getting a touch response. The OS response isn't iPad smooth while scrolling, still awesome not complaining but that's the CPU/software thing
2. Resolution is the same as factory, native Lexus menu stuff looks exceptionally good now, but same resolution
3. Everything on steering controls works. I've used this for a while now 3weeks in, and have yet to discover any surprises
4. Car play and Android Auto. I happen to be using Android right now so haven't tried Apple stuff. Note the connection setup procedure when you first set it up is slightly different. customer support was awesome, I had a question about routing audio through BT or AUX, and they were super helpful.
5. Volume does display on the top of the screen, so does climate control when you change from the buttons on the AC controls, a side panel Lexus native pops up, it's amazing how they pulled that off
6. Takes about 30-40s when you start the car. This is pretty good, my previous second screen was carpodgo t3, which was crazy fast on boot up so that probably spoiled me. Haven't had any issues so far, done a few road trips, put like 2k miles on it in the past 3 weeks, no complaints. Only get compliments on how clean and factory the setup looks
