So I found this guy's instagram. It's packed with Land Cruiser photos from Qatar.

One thing that stood out are some 200s that appear to be fitted with 16 inch wheels. Anyone know how these are fitted? I had thought the brake system was standardized internationally (specs are not forthcoming on Toyota's Qatar site).

This guy is apparently the one who leaked the '16 refresh before it was official.
Interesting page to check out.

Imagine being the "weird" guy in the Porsche or RR

If I had to guess, very low offset wheels and/or spacers

Good thought. It's just interesting because there's little clearance with the 17s as is, especially on the 16+.

We can fit certain 17" wheels over the larger 354mm rotors. Since 2015 and older trucks comes with the 340mm rotor, there may be certain 16" wheels that, as TonyP mentions above, have the proper offset to clear the calipers.

Those are definitely some narrow wheels and tires. They look about 20-30mm narrower than stock.

Speaking of offset...

By the way, if you watch that video, you'll notice that almost all of them have Bill Murray stickers or rear window wraps. Whoever that guy is, he must be pretty popular.

hello,

To fit 16inch wheels you need to install spacers and shave the brake caliper. You probably also lift the car a bit if you will use 900/16 sand tires so that they dont hit the fenders. I have 16inch wheels installed on my lc200 and they are very good for desert terrain.

Yes, since this post we have a member here @ToyotaIsLife who has posted about running 16s on his 200.

Most people here run those wheels for the looks , however the tires Maxxis Ballon which is the most common tire here in my country is designed with a extremally soft compound (nylon only nothing else) the tread pattern and a very large tire footprint when deflated. Main purpose is for soft sand. Also the curve of the tires in combination with the soft compound gives a very very smooth ride on sandy washboards and bumps. However the compromise is that it is extremally weak and can puncture very easily when driving on gravel roads and such. Also is noisy and vibrates on roads.

People here think the ride quality
Improvement outweighs the negatives. To each there own.

I think you will still need to chop the calipers to clear.

I have looked at the 16" OEM LX 470 wheels - but they would require you to run spacers and grind down the caliper.

And the TRD Rock Warrior wheels are forged construction.
