Here are the pics of the FJ40 at CM06. The inside was completely filled with electronics; computer, a dozen radios, iPod, GPS, and just about everything you could think of. The view from the driver's seat looked like a jet fighter.

I wonder if he has a dual battery set up? ;)

What was the approximate lag time between taking the test and finding your name on the ULS?

In the words of O'Niell, that's kinda "Ig".

I wonder if the guy has to wear lead shielded underware....

Mine took about a week to enter the database.

Yep, I like HF, use it all the time at work, fun but not particularly reliable.and too finicky w/ atmospherics and sunspot activity.
I want to use radiotelephone, but see 2M as utilitarian and not fun. NOT that I wouldn't like to get my Technician-
HF rigs aren't that much- unfortunately, lots of "silent keys", old guys whose former gear is sold in estate sales, antennas are however a challenge. Kenwoods, Yaesus, etc.

Re; tweaked- out FJ40- too bad he can't HEAR the radios when underway, and can't TYPE in a 40 while driving , either - all that hi-tech stuff won't work too well in a 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be short for,....................

"IGNUNT" n., adj. the act or state of 'ignunce', as in a lack of knowledge, care or home training, i.e. "Cletus was REAL _IGNUNT_ when he tried to JB-Weld that broken pinion gear.

Actually they're backing up pretty fast. Mine took about three weeks I think. There is a "movement afoot" to reinstate the morse code requirement - or at least that's the rumor. A lot of people are taking the test now - many more than ever before.

For those who haven't taken the Ham test, and want a class on it.. I noticed this in the CNM workforce catalog:

Amateur Radio Technician Level Course: TCHW 7036

Mon-Thur (April 14-17) 5:30-9:30pm
Exam Friday 5:30-7:30pm
Cost $79.

They also have the General class the next week CHWW 7064,
Mon-Thur (April 21-24) 5:30-9:30pm
Exam Friday 5:30-7:30pm
Cost $79.

Best part is, the class isn't at the main campus, its at a Workforce Training Center at 5600 Eagle Rock Rd, 87113 (near I-25/Alameda).
