I cannot open the rear hatch from the inside. It almost always opens fine from the outside handle. But it never works from inside. The lock mechanism and child lock mechanism work as intended. But the handle would not engage it turns out that the child lock lever was loose and slipping just enough to disable the inside handle every time I reassembled the cover. One small bend with a screwdriver and voilà! Problem solved.
Edited to add: I had to do this because I camp in the rear of my LX and having to only use the side doors sucked.
