H42 transmission. Seller threw it in when I bought my truck, I've been tripping over it for 2 years. I don't know much about it or its condition. Seller said it came from a 76.

$200, local pickup in Boise.

I’d pull the top cover off to be sure it’s not rusty inside. Otherwise, I’m inclined to agree with Casey that it’s the DOTD based on that tailshaft.

I pulled the cover off at some point. It is clean inside & complete. Everything turns smoothly.

looks like the long H42, 1985+,
not so good missing the extension housing.
does your rig have a 5 speed? that is usually where the extra trans comes from.
I've scrapped a few thru the years as most want to upgrade to a 5 speed versus staying with the 4 speed.

hopefully you find a buyer

I disagree Paul. It has the cast iron two piece top cover and the cast extension housing of a pre-81 unit. And the spacer sleeve for a 19 spine input gear would be beveled.

@mattressking , you should buy this.😉

I contemplated heavily on switching to late h42 and splitcase…..then I got a nice oem h55 lid for 4x :). 3:1 gears are calling my name.

I looked at it quickly last night, looked like a long output shaft in the pic.
and I didn't see where the seller said the PO claimed it was from a 76.

I count 16 splines on the shaft.

Gorgeous. Really surprised this hasn’t sold.

Nobody has come and picked up my perfectly good radiator for free yet either :-). Boise is still a small town in a lot of ways.

Is this still around?
Seller hasn't been on mud for over a month. Might send a PM incase seller looks on mud and doesn't check this thread. 16 spline makes it for a one piece transfer case. The location of the reverse light switch on the top cover also is for a one piece. Split case reverse light switch is in the round boss just Infront the location for the one piece case.

really good deal! how ih8mud should be! not over inflated prices, too bad people take advantage of others and charge premium for junk.
