Ok, I hope this is "Hardcore" enough to be on this thread :)

Anyway, I'm in the middle of doing a total vehicle rebuild including dropping a Dana 60 and Corporate 14 bolt under my FJ40. I'm curious to know whether you can run Hummer H1 rims on these axles. I believe they're the same bolt pattern as my axles ... I just don't know if there are any other limiting factors.

My only concern right now is whether the backspacing will be ok. I'm running leafs in the factory axle positions on the front (which reqiuires outboarding them 5" / side). If the backspacing isn't too crazy it shouldn't limit my steering... if it is, it could cause some problems.

What do you know about this?

BAckspacing will be an issue.

recenter the humemr rims to about 5" or so and you will be okay

Does a person need to buy new centersections to make that happen or can you just reposition or flip the existing centers? Also, do you know if they can be machined off like a normal steelie?

which h1 rims you using?

8 bolt or 12 bolt?
(the number of bolts alters which half of the rim the WMS is on.)

EIther way, Typically you purchase centers from performance cryogenics or stazworks and re weld at your desired location.

The stock inners can easily be machined out, but they cannot be reused..

the swamper should be the hard thing to balance.

The rims should be just fine as long as you pay attention to welding them and keeping them true

The backspacing is only an issue with the steering components. Cut off the OEM mounts for the tie rod on the front of the knuckles and run offset high steer arms and they fit fine. Or you can run a dually front axle and not have any issues due to the wheel mounting surface being 4" out further on each side.

Yeah, I was thinkin about your dually axle when I wrote that. However, with any more BS than 5" you will smack the crap out of your hubs. And I mean bad.. I repaced 2 warn hubs before I got a set of driveflanges so I would not have to worry..

Oh, good point. the dually axle kind of protects the hubs so I forget about how far they stick out on a SRW front 60.

i believe

1" spacers on the front can clear factory offset h1 rims on a dodge dana 60 knuckle.

and 1.25" spacer clears them on a GM knuckle

mud ring, to help both the lip from bending and help with hub getting hit.
