Hey Y’all,

I’m getting ready to install some chase lights on the back door, and I want to run wiring along the underside of the car to my switch panel in the engine bay.

I have an idea for how to run wiring from the chase lights into the back door then into the trunk area via the existing wire sleeve on the door.

Once I’m inside the truck, though, I’m not sure of the best way to drop the wires down to the undercarriage.

Any thoughts?

I’ve seen folks run the chase light wiring across the roof then down the cowling along the windshield, but that looks sloppy to me. I don’t want to run the wires through the interior because it’s a pain in the ass to get through the firewall. If there’s a hole in the floor of the trunk that I can drop the wire harness through, that would be ideal. Once it’s to the undercarriage, it’s a breeze to run everything to the engine bay.

I'd run the whole wiring run in the channels along the base of the doors inside. There is a channel that goes almost all the way and easily get through to the back quarter panel behind the rear seats.

I’ll probably end up doing that. It’s how I’ve got my backup camera wired. Likely easier to run the light wires through the firewall to the switch in the engine bay than everything from inside to outside the car.
