This was a $100 gamble because the FJ Bottle was not cheap.
But in the end I am happy with the outcome as I am preparing my GX470 for a aftermarket steel front bumper. As everyone knows, when you go aftermarket steel front bumper, you have your stock washer fluid bottle sticking out like a sore thumb and gets in the way of 35" setups. This replacement OEM FJ bottle answers all our issues if you want a sturdy OEM looking solution.
To answer a few common questions:
  • yes it will clear LED bulbs sticking out behind the headlight with the massive cooling fan on the bulb.
  • holds roughly 1 gallon of fluid from what I can see
  • has 2 port holes for front and back sprayer motor
  • no sensor hole, not sure why you need it at this point if the bottle is now up top in the engine bay and easy to see if your are low
  • no drilling or cutting of your GX body
  • only 1 bracket need to be made which you can buy off Amazon and cut off one end with a dremel
  • OEM quality with sturdy lid vs cheap caps on Amazon reservoir bottles.

The bottle fits right in the exact hole at the wheel tub as indicated in the pictures. This is good as weight of the fluid and bottle sits on a structural part of the body while just 1 mounting tab up top is utilized to hold the bottle in place from swaying. I added a rubber isolator to dampen any rubbing of the cutoff side tab near the fender wall. Once that bracket is bolted down, it ain't going anywhere. You still have access to the air filter box with no issue. In the picture I have not removed the old bottle and neck yet but of course you will be removing that after you install this FJ bottle.

Reason why this bottle is mounted offset from the front radiator support is so you can clear the hood when you close the hood. This bottle works on FJ because their hood doesn't slope down towards the front. Our GX470 slopes down towards the front so that is why it needs to be offset a little or you won't be able to close the hood.

Parts to Buy:
  • Black L bracket. I also used these for mounting my Morimoto 4banger light pods on my stock front bumper so it's good to have spares on the side.

Nice work!! I need a solution like this for my 460.

Not too shabby.

I may just go that route.

Are you getting any dash lights from not having the sensor?

Appreciate yiu sharing the post! I’m looking for a solution and this may be it. Again, appreciate you sharing very much.

I found one of these for a steal right after reading this. Quickly mocking it up, it looks like it’s making contact with the power steering reservoir. Did you have to move anything to make room?
