gx470 non navigation better pick?

1st post, I have been looking for my gx470 now for a few months now. I have found the non navigation model might be a better pick
since the climate controls are separate from the head unit controls in the navigation model. Has anyone swapped out the radio for a
aftermarket navigation unit and does it fit without damage to the area installed? And is the non nav models climate control affected
in the swap? And last, any recommendations?

Yes. I run an Android unit similar to this with Apple CarPlay adapter. Buy one with Canbus. This is plug n play.
