5.11 has a sale on this fanny pack for $20

and in my chronic condition of always looking for inappropriate s*** to use for mods I bought it and removed the straps and made it my new door ditty bag (replacing a $10 personal hygiene bag that previously served in that role). This one is cooler!

Actually for $20 I may buy another one to actually use as a fanny pack...

With all due respect, not sure if I want to give you a "thumbs up" on your post yet.
Have you done any research on this brand, ActionTrax?
Before I purchased both sets of my MaxTrax, I did a ton of research about them. My first concern was: are plastic traction boards legit?
After determining that, yes they can be legit and work, it now depended upon the manufacturer.
Watching several Youtube videos of traction board comparison vs other traction boards vs a carpet mat, plain wood timber and milled wood, etc. The MaxTrac always came out on top, hence my purchase of two sets. If I'd known that they were coming out with the metal studded boards, I would have waited and purchased those instead.

Truly hope no regrets on the purchase! 👍
@Gamiviti did a review of them years ago and keeps them in stock as far as I can tell. They don't have the same market precence as MaxTrax but look to have some advantages. Every time I think about buying a set, I just engage Crawl. 🤣 Someday, I'll need them..just not today.

Stuck in traffic heading up to DC over the weekend and the temp gauge started climbing like it was going to overheat. As soon as I got moving above 30 or so the temp gauge went back to its usual position but what am I looking for here? Thermostat? Fans? Valley Plate? I didn't see any obvious leaks or smell coolant anywhere but a 2017 with 95,xxx miles may be getting into radiator replacement territory.
Don't know how I didn't realize you're on the east coast, we should arrange an east coast GXOR event sometime next year (this year is shot for me, PTO all accounted for). Hope the overheating ordeal gets sorted!

Looks about right to me.

Weighing options for brakes.

  • PowerStop Z36 Truck/Tow kit (coated rotors) via Rock Auto = $352.79
  • PowerStop Z36 Truck/Tow upgrade kit (drilled/slotted rotors) via Rock Auto = $432.89

  • POWER STOP CRK5874 Z17 Geomet Coated Rotor Kit: Genuine Geomet Fully Coated Rotors, Ceramic Pads w/ Hardware $305.79

What would you all do?

I do EBC ED+ pads and Brembo blanks.

The Bell Lexus 17.76% sale is live. Just ordered my filters and wiper inserts for the year and other random items needing replacement.

have the P/Ns for the filters and inserts? I want to make sure I'm grabbing the right (best?) ones. I could stand to do an intake filter, cabin filter, and have some spare wipers on hand.

edit: never mind found everything in that big part number thread: GX460 OEM Part Numbers - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/gx460-oem-part-numbers.1175218/post-12727047

As long as these P/N are still the correct ones:

[Air filters]
PN: 17801-38051 / Engine
PN: 87139-50100 / Cabin

[Windshield Wiper Inserts]
PN: 85214-60120 / Passenger Side
PN: 85214-02340 / Driver Side
PN: 85214-42040 / Rear

I just threw OEM on mine last year. Pricing looks expected with discount. I had to replace a rear caliper a couple months back.

Yeah, basically just debating OEM or trying the PowerStop kit for a little less money. Can't go wrong with OEM but a little more stopping power (and less $$$) would be nice.

Converting to DOT5.1 can help with extra stopping power too. I also had to do a caliper in the last 6 months.
I think its a feature of the J120/J150 chassis.

PowerStop Z36. Raybestos rotors. Wear and performance has been similar to stock. I was honestly surprised they have lasted as long as they have.

I'd be down for a Northeast meet up at Rausch Creek or AOAA. I'd love to explore New England too but 95 between basically Richmond and New Hampshire is my own personal hell

I feel like I see GXOR meetups down south at Uhwarie, Windrock, etc all the time but don't see anything in the mid-atlantic or northeast

Meeting some others in Owen, VA tomorrow. Probably to Peter's Mill or Flagpole. Haven't been out in a bit so it will be nice.

Definitely! Jog my memory, how is your GX set up?

We (on TacomaWorld) have a big wheeling event at AOAA every fall. This year's weekend is Oct 17-19 but I'd love to get out to Rausch sometime as well.

I think I have pretty much everything except long travel and lockers...I might buy lockers this week
33 inch Baja Boss
2.5 inch MRRs with Ironman UCAs
MTS/CC modules
All the DrKDSS stuff
Front/rear bumper, skids, sliders
Winch
Various other stuff like lights, roofrack, exhaust
OTT tune scheduled for next weekend
Currently trying to overheat 😑

Awesome, so we should be on the same page as far as capability goes

I did all stock and it works ok on my nearly stock car.

Next time I'll use stock rotors and try aftermarket street pads like Hawk HPS. They claim somewhat better stopping performance, and I wouldn't mind that.

Didn't get truck back. Its become a whole thing so not going into details.

Have to scrap plans to do Ironclads. 😢

We may do a paved road trip into the mountains to avoid the heat.

@Hiluxforever

Pick-a-parts/salvage yards have lots. Probably a 6-8 hour job and you could have the original repaired/beefed up while still rolling.

eBay has a few at a reasonable price.

Bell has the housings on sale (but more work).

Good luck.
