Correct. I know that's why some manufacturers go with multi-turbos. A smaller diameter turbine, means less rotating mass. Less rotating mass = faster spin-up. One big 'ol turbo takes a lot longer to get 'er to spin up, which equals to a long lag time. Had that happen to me once when I was purchasing a new 1992 MR2 turbo. I had the salesman sitting next to me, I down shifted going into a right hand sweeper. Everything was going fine till the turbo kicked in! Wound up sliding into a 270° in the middle of both directions of traffic. Fortunately, traffic was very light. The salesman and I looked at each other, grinned, and he said, "When we get back, this never happened." I bought the car. It was very fun, but that turbo would really make that tail end pull out.

I believe that with a Mister 2. I doubt i have the touch to handle one of those with my fists of ham. That's not the kind of finesse you learn hustling a 5 lug
My hatchback had the turbo built into the exhaust manifold. An oem grade was about 1700 and a ported and polished turbo with an upgrade impeller was 2400. I really like the BW K03, great little turbo. Was also used on the Focus ST and Mid teens GTi.
The K03 is used on some mid-teens Audi 2.0 engines. I had one on my 2015 allroad but I eventually upgraded to a CTS K04. It shifted the RPM range up a little bit but man was that thing a rocket when it got going.

I believe it. I upset a lot of people with mine once I had a big front mount intercooler. Kept the quiet exhaust so it was just all obnoxious turbo noises. Apparently I was that guy.
I know exactly what you mean. I've got a little 77 Datsun pickup I did an SR20DET swap on (The first in a LHD) back in 2009. Hurt a LOT of people's feelings with that truck. I went from a stock 2.0 to a stock 2.0, so I would tell people it was stock. They didn't beleive me.

Wow! My very first brand new shinny red vehicle was a 1978 Datsun short bed pickup. Total base model.
It was pretty indestructible, after that I was sold on Datsun's .
Below is very similar to mine, till I added a wrap around flare kit, and fat 'ol Cragar chrome 5 spoke wheels and lowered it in the front and gave it that 70's surfer look.
Before I bought my GX I was shopping around for a Datsun 510 that I was going to swap to a SR20DET. I used to have a ‘72 510 twenty years ago, but sold it

My first 4x4 was a 77 FJ55 that I had until I got married. What's her name hated the Iron Pig she called it the beast and I sold it ~85 for a brand new Nissan 4x4 pickup. It was during the transition from Datsun to Nissan and it was badged Nissan. No model number, just the Nissan pickup 4x4 version.
Sold it at 100K miles and never had a single issue with it. Had a spare clutch and throw out bearing in the bed that I bought on sale from an auto parts store that was going out of business. Because of the FJ55 figured I'd have to replace the clutch as I closed in on higher mileage but never needed to. Tires and oil changes were all it ever needed.
It was because of that PU that I bought a Xterra a couple of vehicles back.

I heard the gossip from master techs that the son of a Toyota exec (Japan) perished during a similar event. If I recall, the 1993 suspension was tuned to reduce snap oversteer reported in 1990-1992 production. The result was the new car felt like it had a longer wheelbase under throttle, hindering performance with seasoned drivers but saving lives of the majority buyers.
*Mine is a 1991.

Even though I am probably 20 months away from retiring the GX from DD duty, I am narrowing down the options. Keep coming back to a 2TR 5 Speed Manual 4wd Tacoma. I know it will be Slow AF, but I still have my GX for assaulting the mountains on the weekend.
I spent a lot of time looking at 70 series Troopies and Prados as well as 90 series Surfs and Prados. Its just not worth the risk.
Plus I low key kind of want to build a 4banger version of Big Mike's Tacoma (Marlin Crawler). My first rig was a first gen pickup, too.

Love the first gen of these 4x4 pickups also, but after my very first short bed, regular cab Datsun, I'll never get a pickup without some sort of extra/extended cab. Everything was always on the passenger seat or floor board. And heaven forbid a short person (read: my wife) should ever drive, the short cabs ALL came with bench seats. Ever have a short person move the bench seat ALL the way up to reach the pedals? Your knees will be tucked under your armpits.

Almost put on hat and gloves this morning, even thought about zipping my jacket up.
Heated seats. Heated windshield. Heated steering wheel. Damn I love this truck right now.
But looking forward to this coming weekend already, I might have to dig out the shorts.
We're supposed to get 4-8" of snow this week. If that materializes on the upper end, it will be the most snow we've had in a decade.
Our lows will be a balmy -2, however. Need to plug the heat trace in my well in so the pressure switch doesn't freeze again

Jealous about the heated steering wheel. Some day I will actually get remote start.
One of my big surprises was no heated steering wheel on my 20 base. I thought I was missing seeing the button. Even today I occasionally look around because it has to be there, right????

I will say the wood isn't too thermally conductive so it never feels as cold as my old 'yotas or Taco's
You have a wood wheel????
Actually I do also but it may as well be hard plastic for all the tactile sensation I get from it. Grey Sappelle IIRC....
