2014 GX460 that is in the midst of being regeared to 4.88, and I am struggling to find information here, and could really use some help.
The details are that I have everything needed to do this. I have done Gen. 3 4runners, and lots of Jeeps with no issues other then tested patience. The carrier (3.73 and Down) is from East Coast Gear Supply gears are from Nitro and all have assembled without an issue. My problem is the backlash, and how I adjust this? The carrier bearings have no shims. The bearing races have the very thick oil slick pieces, but no shims. All other pre-loads are good. My shim kit with the rebuild does not come with any variation of those things to adjust the carrier so what have people done here?
Jeeps are completely different, but all of them had shims and adjustment. The gen 3 4runner I went to 4.56 and it was correct by just setting the pinion depth, and adjusting this in this scenario will not get me there. I am well centered and measuring ~.021" backlash.
