Hi Folks,

I find myself in need of a complete brake booster master cylinder assembly for a 2015 Prado VX. This is a very expensive assembly, the cheapest I found online was $2100. I found what looks like the exact same part for a 2015 GX 460 for $1200 in the USA. Before I make the purchase, does anyone have any experience interchanging those parts? Is it safe?

The Prado part I found, searching by Year and Model is at

The Lexus GX 460 part I found is at Lexus GX 460 Brake booster assembly, with master cylinder - 4705060571 | Park Place Lexus Plano, Plano TX - https://parts.parkplacelexusplano.com/p/Lexus__GX-460/BRAKE-BOOSTER-ASSEMBLY---WITH-MASTER-CYLINDER/66805793/4705060571.html

They have the exact same part diagram, so it seem reasonable it should work.

Any dissenting or confirming experience or thoughts? I would hate to make a mistake here, but would really like to save $800 if possible.

If the part number are the same, then they are the same.
Is $1200 for used parts? There is a guy in California that rebuild them all the time.

Are the part numbers the same or do they just "look" similar?
I would only go with matching part numbers.

The part numbers are the same. If I search the internet with Toyota 47050-60200, or Lexus 47050-60200, it definitely seems to be the exact same part. What is interesting is I can get the Lexus version for $1200 in the USA, and the cheapest I have found the Toyota Prado version is $1700

Not telling you what to do, but my vote is for the cheaper one with the exact same part number.

I finally got confirmation from the dealer I bought the car from that Toyota part #47050-60200 does work for my Prado. Prado is not sold in the USA, so I am guessing the price difference is just around economies of scale.

After shipping to Peru and paying the import duties ( lexuspartsnow.com uses FedEx Cross Border for international shipping ) the total cost was $1870. Much better than the $4300 Toyota Peru wanted to charge me!!

Crossing my fingers there will not be any problems installing it!

Do you have techstream for the bleeding portion of the install?

I will be having a local Toyota certified mechanic installing it. I am at an age where I just do not want to do the maintenance myself anymore:)

Another question. At this point any responsible person would say the car is not safe to drive. Yet there are brakes with the pedal, and with a combination of brake pedal and hand brake one can carefully drive. There is a non-stop warning beep as soon as the car is started. Occasionally, I need to used the vehicle for errands. Does anyone know how to turn off the beeping? I tried disconnecting the wiring connections to the master cylinder/brake booster assembly (could only easily disconnect 2 of 4) and the two I was able to disconnect did not do it.

Please no comments on how dangerous it is to drive with a faulty brake system. The system is stable and functional, yet not 100%. and I am being VERY careful. I live in a remote place and sometimes there really is no other option.

Have you looked in the manual's sticky post? GX 460 Manuals
It may take a wee bit of time, but you should be able to find what you need there.
Or maybe using TechStream? Acrad would be the person to know, if he see's this post.
